Very worrying if true. It means Carrick back into CB, which means no Carrick in midfield. Its like a double loss.

Feck. The early season optimism I had has gone
PLAY BERBATOV (Beckenbauer) THERE!
Seriously, if true that is very bad news. We have already got more injuries than the other top teams.
I know it's a terrible joke but Autoglass repair would make a fortune from our defence. They're all thoroughly made out of glass. Playing Carrick at Centre-back is all fine, but considering we have about 4 other centre-backs, this shouldn't be a re-occuring crisis each year.
Why are guys so worried? Evans is better than Ferdinand these days...

But Evans is injured, as are all our other CBs apart from Vidic, who hasnt played a competitive game in 9 moths.
So Evans, Smalling, Jones and now Ferdinand are all injured?
Man, I thought we had it hard with injuries to defenders.
Every year for the past 3-4 years, we lose all our defenders apart from Evra
Why is it our players are always getting injured? Is our training regime too strict, are the players pushed too hard? Or are they just made of glass?
Every season we seem to have an injury crisis at one point.
Any chance of a reserve stepping in? Such as Vermijl, or didn't Keane play a lot in preseason?
I wouldn't want to lose Carrick from midfield. We would have to go Ando-Cleverley and just go all out attack.
we just seemed to be cursed for the past few seasons.
Rio Ferdinand @rioferdy5
Soccer Saturday is such a good watch on a lazy day after training!
Rio Ferdinand @rioferdy5
Match Of The Day....anyone else buzzing for it like me?!
Not sure its true, he hasnt mentioned it - seems chirpy enough anyway
none of the other papers have picked up on it yet here - hopefully it is bs

I say we just go all out attack:

How do you have a defensive injury crisis before a season begins

Stuff like this just shows how vulnerable we are if 30+ Evra gets injured, especially if it happens in the near future.
If it is true and Carrick plays CB we will get stuffed
It's not bad luck when it happens to the same players every season. It's poor planning if anything.

Game 1 and already our relatively weak CM is exposed by the loss of our most reliable player in Carrick, which could also have happened through injury to him. It's not like we can even move Evra over to the centre as has been done in the past despite his size, because we have zero specialist first team cover for Evra!
If SAF had focussed his millions on adding steel and authority to CM and increased our full back options we'd be so much much stronger than we were and are with god knows how many extra forwards.
Imagine if we'd bought Martinez for example instead of as seems likely letting him go quietly to Bayern. Rio being out wouldn't be an issue for starters, and if our CBs had all been fit we'd have much more solidity with him in the middle of the park, not to mention him getting better and better over a long time.
Over paying with a massive offer for someone like Alaba rather than going OTT on RVPs price/wages would also have meant very strong comp for Evra, not to mention more central options, and long term potential for the player to get even better and be worth even more than the purchase price. Obviously Bayern might not have sold, but who knows if you go OTT enough. I'd certainly have been happier spending way too much money relative to their supposed market value on two players like that, in those positions, instead of doing the same with the likes of RVP no matter how exciting it is to have him at the club.
You summed up my long rant much more concisely merrysupersteve
To be fair, your "rant" made a lot of sense.
Thanks, but the difference in length between our posts certainly highlights my own literary issue, let alone SAFs
