you're mixing wingers, CMs, DMs and forwards in your list and then listed people like Modric, Diaby, Cabaye, and Meireles who almost never score.

DM? Diaby ain't defensive despite the perception he is. And say you have 4 in midfield like Spurs/Utd, I count all 4 as midfielders. But say you have 3 in midfield with wingers on the forward line, I count them as forwards - hence why I never included Podolski etc

I don't think our system needs midfielders to score so many goals.
I think Gerrard will get forward more this season and hopefully start scoring on a consistent basis again.
The system will work as long as the front 3 provide goals. Gerrard will score a few.
However it's essential all front 3 are scoring. Suarez seriously needs to work on his finishing. Borini needs to score. Downing needs too be dropped and replaced with Dempsey
