I just want a striker
==========================
I'd rather play Micheal Ngoo

Man Utd and Liverpool do not sell to each other. There hasn't been a direct transfer between the clubs since 1964. We know this so why even ask the question. Its not going to happen.

Nor do I want it to happen. Berbatov is quality when he wants to be, but its only when he wants to be. He's lazy, he's over 30 now and he'd be expensive.

If he's not good enough for Utd he shouldn't be good enough for us.

shortlighandugly, I wouldn't go that far. There are plenty of players who are good enough for us right now but wouldn't be good enough for Utd. They're title challengers, and we're Top 6 at best. They can choose not to play Berbatov because they have Rooney, Hernandez and now RVP. Spoilt for choice.

Would you take Ngog back?

i wouldn't

I think berbatov could still do a job for United personally. Quality striker, outside of United, City and possibly Chelsea I would have him in the first XI

To be honest there is a world class striker out there on a free who has years of premiership experience and has as good a goals/minutes on pitch ratio as anybody in the world probably, he's played for three of the most successful teams in football and it's only his injury record that casts any doubt whatsoever on him.

Unfortunately his nickname is Judas.

FatJan.

I think signing a Utd reject would cement our place as also-runs in the league. We should at least being aiming higher than that.

People laughed when we picked Owen up on a free but he made a great contribution (especially considering cost) and offers something off the field as well.

Suarez for one could use some finishing tips.

Berba can finish for fun so to that end he's good enough. But you only have to look how hard Fergie tried to stop Heinze coming to Anfield to see it's not going to happen.

It's all rather worrying where we are going to find a scorer from before the transfer window shuts.

Liverpool may well find a suitable striker only to find that Brendon doesn't think he's worth the transfer cost or the wages. Not being allowed to buy Swansea players unless they want to sell to Liverpool has seriously hindered Brendons transfer activity

no

posted on 20/8/12

We couldn't/wouldn't afford his wages anyway.

posted on 20/8/12

we could afford the wages, we just wouldn't justify it ie top wages (i presume?) and no Cl football.

we need CL football to really test the owners ambitions for us ie all talk and no action, well for me that's how i see it any way.

Do you think Borini will play as main striker against City? With Suarez being shifted to inside forward?

I hope Downing does not play, I'd rather see Sterling (bit early probably) or Carroll instead, Carroll in the centre with Borini + Suarez wide...

Berbatov is a great player but he is completely unrealistic as Fergie would never sell to us.

I'm hoping Carroll plays as the main striker with Suarez and Downing either side of him. I'd also like to see Sterling or the new winger on the bench in place of one of the three central midfielders who started the last game on the bench.

I should imagine Carroll's confidence is pretty low, almost shot to bits since Brendon wanted him out and to West Ham of all teams. If he gets some game time is he going to go through the motions like he did for all but the last few games last season

For the City game i want

Suarez Borini Downing/Assaidi(depending on how he plays against hearts)

Brendan didn't want him out to West Ham, since Liverpool rejected West Ham's offer, I would say that would confirm that.

I don't think he needs to go through any motions, he needs to play and the system needs him, so the players around him can join the attack. all throughout pre-season this was very evident. Our passing up until the final third was excellent but nobody was able to hold the ball up in the final third for other players to join the attack and it just didn't work. The attacking element of the system has failed in nearly every match I've watched so far under Rodgers.
