We just need to make sure we don't get overrun physically in the middle.

This

This is Man U's main problem.
We have had Essien in recent years
City have Yaya Toure
Arsenal had song
Spurs have parker

We could really do with Fellaini

I like that theres no Malouda and Essien

Agree LO. He constantly keeps going forward which leaves us exposed in midfield, it's annoying and frustrating.

Disagree with the penalty though, he should of took the penalty as he is our best penalty taker and always has been our best penalty taker and Mata as most spaniards are is crap at penalties

Oscar i like your 25 man squad but I would change Turnbull for Blackman, might as well, Turnbull isn't going to get any better imo.

I just hope the dortmund owner was being serious when he said Schurrle is not leaving this season no matter how much anyone offers. Really really wouldn't like us to sign him. £25million would be a rip-off as well

-----------------------------------------------------------------

But Schurrle doesn't play for Dortmund though.

JNR you are missing the point of what I am saying.

So you are saying you reckon the club would value Silva purely based on his talent rather than the effect he would have on the squad?

The talent of a player has an impact but the squad role they play and the effect the club will expect them to have will have a greater impact.
---------------------
Obviously it isn't entirely based on ability alone, but it is definitely the main factor. Why are the club willing to pay far less for Moses than Hulk, despite them being almost identical players position wise? Because 'the effect the club will expect him to have' is dependant on ability, experience etc.

So are you saying the club would value Messi and Cavani roughly the same as both are strikers (an area we need to improve on) and generally will fulfil the same 'role', bearing in mind ability is not the main factor?

Might as well put Blackman in for Hilario then mate, Hilarios 36 now and least we'd have two backup homegrown players.

And meant leverkusen typo

Gazza what if Torres wasn't as talented? Would the club still have paid £50mil to fulfil that almost priceless role?

And I agree that it is probably the first consideration but it still doesn't mean it is the overriding factor. A player's ability is by and large the most important factor when valuing a player. Which would explain stuff like Cavani/Messi, Moses/Hulk etc.

Jnr

Reading your last paragraph I d have to say u agree with you too ,

Hence why Porto are holding us hostage waiting for a
Sack of money cause they know he s worth every penny

Porto's and our valuation differs. I am talking about the buyers perspective. A sellers' perspective would be different. Just because a seller places X value on a value does not mean the player is actually worth that much.

Gazza I could argue that we paid excess because it was a 'Roman signing'.

I understand what you're saying and I agree to an extent, I just don't think that it is the deciding factor when clubs value players.

Gazza - We have a history of paying too much. The moment a club sees we are interested they jack up the prices. Example - Modric we almost payed 40m for him now he is being sold for 26m.

He is 26 already
