You lucky to have him

By the way do Newcastle fans still hate Ashley?

he's one of the most talented players in europe imo.

outstanding player. would love to have him at spurs and am amazed that clubs like chelsea and madrid havent chosen this guy as their main midfield target tbh.

Fantastic player. TBF in some ways that video shows how well we played him for the majority of Saturdays game. Most of his runs with the ball were in his half and they mostly resulted in us winning back possession or conceding a freekick (apart from the obvious). On his day he will give any team a torrid time, the problem as I understand it is that his day doesn't come round often enough.

Sorry to be pedantic but shouldn't it read, " and how lucky we (Newcastle) are to have him"

Yeah he is a decent player, good for you. At Spurs we are lucky to have Bale and Lennon on who can also run past players.

we trust ashley a bit more now, but we always have a bad feeling that a horrible decision is around the corner, because we're newcastle right?

kinda agree. i think he was too good for us personally, but we coped with him reasonably well and the rest of the team quitecomfortably for most of the game.

this guy is a special talent. must be newcastle's best midfielder since gascoine i should think, and has the talent to be the best midfielder in the prem imo.

both lennon and bale are skilful players, but their main attribute is pace. this guy ben arfa is something else. he's got skills to burn and is way ahead of lennon and comfortably ahead of bale in terms of skill imo. an absoloute delight to watch.

What is Newcastle's squad/ youth like? I only know of their first team which is obviously very strong. Do you feel confident enough to make several changes for Europa and domestic cup games and still l be competitive in them??

watch out for adam campbell only 17, but there are rumours he is starting tomorrow fresh out of scoring a hat trick against your U21 lot

just watched it again

so balanced with the ball at his feet. ALMOST like gazza !

Now theres a lad that enjoys playing his football.

Beardsley If he gets anywhere near that level then wow. Beardsley I think is the most underrated English player of his time. Just ask Gary Lineker!

I remember watching Beardsley. Very good player. Not in Gascoine's class in terms of abliity, but he was there after Gazza so yes I guess he qualifies on that basis. Played off the striker though more than midfield i'd say, in more of a teddy sheringham type role.

In term of abliity, no doubt beardsley was a terrific player, but i'd say he doesnt have the talent this lad does based on what little ive seen of him. The way he runs with the ball suggests he has a very rare pure footballing gift.

posted on 23/8/12

Oh Beardsley had the talent. He also had his very own shuffle! When the Ben Arfa shuffle is a common trick in the school yard he'll be as good Pedro

i cant see many schoolkids in the playground emulating what that lad ben arfa's got somehow. i reckon i could count on my hands the football players ive seen who have got the balance and control that BenArfa kid's got. obv one of them would be gazza.
