Gerrard still one of the best crossers in the league...maybe on the right?

Agree completely.

Gerrard isn't the greatest short fast paced passer of the ball.

Gerrard is actually very good at fast short paced passing. His problem is more of slow paced short passing. He likes to play at high pace..

I actually think gerrard should play as a striker. i know its sounds crazy but having Assaidi and Suarez as wide frwds and a Midfield of Sahin, Allen and Lucas could be the way forward with thw squad we got.

------------------------Lucas------------------------
-----------Sahin-------------------Allen------------
Suarez-------------------------------------Assaidi
-----------------------Gerrard-----------------------

Worth a try maybe???

Having Gerrard as a fwd is ludicrous,
Lets play Reina there instead

Brendan's,

Reina started his career as a striker and only became a gk when he filled in on a training session and did amazingly.

Thats what I mean.
Stick Reina up front

I don't know mate, Reina would probably do better in goal, not convinced by the cover we have.

Maybe we should do a Spain and play without an out and out striker. Gerrard could be our Fabregas.

Well Matt, there's no real reason why not to. I think Liverpool last season highlighted what is wrong with traditional your striker scores your goals thinking. We never had other men getting into the box so never posed much of a threat. These days most stikers are expected to defend anyway. The passing slow build up we (and kinda Barca) play doesnt require out and out strikers who are encouraged to always be forward on the arm of the defender as by the time we are in the oppositions penalty area a good 4 players regardless of position should be in that area. I think there's something to be said for this Gerrard as a false 9 idea. At the end of the day the front 3 are kind of like stikers anyway so we'd still have suarez and borini there

King Kenny... very well said, I agree with you there. Pretty much summed up my thinking and written far more eloquently than I could have hoped for.

We won't get to see Sahin until next week in the league so hopefully it will give us a true indication of what's going to happen. I would not be disappointed with Gerrard as a front man.

Gerrard is a class act, one of Liverpools greatest ever players.

However , comments above saying how good he is at crossing a ball - he probably takes the worst set pieces in the league. In open play he can cross and pass as good as most.

Stevie needs to try and raise his game once again and be more consistant - this may sound harsh but the man has been that good we all expect him to be the usual Stevie G of old
