The difference in his underlining mentality this season has been the difference. The last 18 months have forced him through a transition he wasn't ready for, now with the service there we can just reap the rewards of having a more mature, complete player at the tip of this razor edged sword.

Just needs his touch to return to him. He used to treat the ball like a feather in the wind, like Hazard does effortlessly. He still looks abit tense when he has a man to take on, and you can tell he's missing his extra yard (he still tries his infamous ball drag from time to time, often unsuccessfully these days).

His pace won't come back. Maybe his confidence might !?!?!?!
Had opportunities to get shots off again yesterday but hesitated. The only time he didn't he scored !
Oh, and his goal was a team effort

And that non hesitation ping will do his confidence no harm at all.

Aren't all goals team efforts?

We do need another world class striker.
What happens if Torres gets injured can we expect the goals to come from Danny?
We can't depend on Torres and Sturridge as our only strikers for this campaign.
Lets not forget there will injuries and suspensions.

For Torres, yes

He needs other players in the box, it is too often only him that defenders have to worry about, Drogba has the strength to deal with two defenders up his backside, but Torres does not, so RDM has to find a workable solution to give him support and give defenders something else to worry about.

I take it you're not a fan

Isn't the new team based all around him !

So basically he's undroppable, a thing we were trying to get away from i thought ? I fear he will be like Van Nistelrooy at Utd. Goals aplenty, but feck all silverware for the club

It's true, I don't like that Torres can't create his own goals from time to time. At least he's off the ground now though, maybe, just maybe we'll see him keep improving at this rate.

Give it 10 games. I'm not jumping on any Torres bandwagon yet.

Seeing as he's the only option!

Sensible attitude.

Hazardwagon is faster.

I have always thought that Torres would return to his old ways eventually, even though many on here have doubted he would. Yes I agree that he probably has lost a yard of pace from the old Torres, but I always thought that surely the man that produced all those moments of brilliance in a Liverpool shirt, can't suddenly become crap.

I think that he is very much a confidence player, with a potentially fragile resilience to setbacks (that as a top player you are bound to have) but I think that his biggest problem (which has now resolved itself) was that he was completely intimidated by the long shadow that was cast by the legend that was Drogba. It probably inhibited him from performing at his best and now that Drogs has gone, even though I'm sure they got along fine, he possibly feels a sense of relief and feels that he can now put his own stamp on proceedings. Ancellotti referred to how Drogba had the effect of eating all the opposition for his position, not by being deliberately disruptive but purely because his personality in our team was so powerful and dominant.

So we can't but another striker cause it affects him

No, it just can't be Drogba

We should of bought Kuyt

Chemo, I think we can, but I think that because Drogs had been in situ for so long and seemed part of the furniture, it caused him to doubt himself. A new boy coming in won't have the same effect, he will hopefully feel that this is now his manor and the new bloke will have to wait in line, whereas with Drogba with all that he's won with and for the club, he was never going to be able to feel like that.

Of course we can, but the difference is he is and will be the first choice striker so in that respect his confidence should remain high.

I should also add that the way we play now, getting the ball forward far quicker should provide him with a better service that is more suited to his game.

Huh? I'm lost

True, but as long as Chelsea are scoring and winning I don't give a monkey's whether it's Torres or the new boy doing it. As long as it's being done that's all I care about
