No ........ but at least one of Svens defenders would of been worth keeping.

Affordable...that is probably the most sensible and accurate post I have seen for a long while.

its an extremely sensible post but I fear its not completely accurate.

As much as I think that strategy would be good for this club, the owners havent parted with millions of pounds for nothing. This is NOT a re-building season. Pearsons remit is to very simply get us promoted.

The owners have already shown how ruthless their ambition is by axing Sven by November. As much as I believe that Sven was a terrible appointment, its hardly giving someone the time they deserve.

Pearson will not be afforded any more luxury than he was. He has done a good job of stripping the team back and shipping out the expensive players but unless he cracks the goal scoring problem and cuts out the defensive errors than a top 6 finish will not save him if we dont win the play offs

I agree with BlackStarr (save in respect of Sven's appointment). It won't be good enough to look like a promising work-in-progress this season: it has to actually happen. That means fixing the defence, now.

PS why are you keeping Pearson's fourth objective a secret, Affordable? Has it perhaps to do with strangling Stringer..?

That seems a weekly objective of Nigel, Yes stringy Ask's silly questions but get over NP thats his job.

Malling with you on Sven no suprrise there then .

#4 Pearson was taking notes during the Thai boxing night a few weeks back. Its only a matter of time before a Thai flying knee will be demonstrated in Stringers general direction before the season ends.

There goes the "sensible post" tag.

Up the Mighty foxes.

"sensible" went once Sven's name was mentioned, your post was excellent although we're all guessing at the true element of expectations of the owners!

Nothing to guess about they are not here to play in the Championship that why they got a world class manager in and now they have Nigel.

These owners are ruthless people. If things are not going well oct/nov time they will not think twice about giving Nigel the elbow!

I remember Reading giving Brenson Rodgers the elbow in November - perhaps they don't regret that decision as they made the Premiership 18 months later. The difference is they kept the appointment in house - if the Thai's sack Pearson in November, it's start all over again time. Surely they must understand stability is essential. The time for change is at the end of the season when a new manger can implement his own will before the season starts.

I don't understand all this talk of the owners getting rid of Pearson, they got rid of Sven because he was a massive mistake in the first place and the result of foreign naivety in foottball.

Great to know they either woke up or got some great advice and got rid of the useless incumbent dragging the club down the path to disaster that was Sven.

Pearson I'm sure gave them another a dose of reality about how you can't buy thjs league, I have every faith that barring a major disaster he'll be here come the end of the season!

Under Sven we outplayed the opposition week in week out but lacked a killer instinct. As a result, we failed to win enough games to secure promotion. If the same thing happens under Pearson, then he will meet with the same end. "Foreign naivety" doesn't come into the equation. Only the results matter.

Really?

I remember the odd game but not "week in week" out, it was the inconsistancy that was the major issue?

We outpassed teams who wanted to play football under Sven, but those who parked the bus we had no idea how to break them down. I think Pearsons team has the quality to do this with Knockaert, Drinkwater, King and Marshall.
