Kelly was a 6 for me and skrtel a 7 despite the horrendous mistake (only playing side due to aggers absence). Suarez was also a 7 but agree with the rest

Wouldn't say Suarez was superb, good goal and very high work rate, but wasteful at best in possession. But other than that, I'd say it's probably fair.

Terrible ratings in my opinion.

Reina 6 - a couple of years ago he would have come out and tried to take the ball and maybe the defender out but he seems to prefer to concentrate on the defender's mistakes lately, instead of waiting until after.

Kelly - 6 was ok but silly mistakes and passes cost us, from Kelly.

Skrtel - 8 was outstanding and was heading towards the Man of the Match award until his stupid mistake.

Coates - An assured performance and he could be a big player for us in future.

Johnson - 6 decent but much better on the right.

Lucas - N/A wasn't on the pitch long enough

Allen - 9 great performance from Allen, fought for the ball and passed the ball well.

Gerrard - 7 first match in a long time I've seen him fighting for the ball, good on the ball also and tactically very good, playing like a box to box midfielder.

Borini 6 - not his position and shouldn't play out there. he tried his best but couldn't get into the game from a wide position.

Suarez 7 - did well but again showed that he shouldn't be played in the main striker role, did well coming from the wide forward positions and great free-kick.

Sterling 7 - Good performance from Sterling. Some have doubts about his final ball but having seen his shooting in the reserves, I know his shooting is there and will come with confidence but the little balls he puts into the box after taking his man on are excellent too. A clever little player.

Shelvey 6 - Did well passing the ball on a putting himself about, an assured performance.

Enrique N/A - not on the pitch long enough.

Carroll N/A - not on the pitch long enough.

First goal was Kelly's fault, how in the world Skrtel can be blamed for that is astounding. A typical scapegoat comment from you. Skrtel was our best player until that moment, he was excellent. He was heading everything out and was assured in possession passing the ball.

Agree skrtel was outstanding until the second goal. Reina was at fault for the first as he should not have come out without getting the ball

I thought the club had sacked our goalkeeping coach Achterberg but he is still listed on official site. Reina has not improved with age, in fact, he is worse. Club needs to look at this problem and also stop back passing so much.

Skretl should have headed the ball for the first goal. He misled Reina.

Both Skrtel and Coates were brilliant.

Skrtel didn't pass the ball to allen when he had space. Wouldn't have needed to pass back if he released in earlier to Allen.

Brendan will use the clip and teach good lesson though

Like the players said. They are learning new things about our new philosophy every day. I though our use of the wingbacks was very good today compared to our other matches. But they have all been away with the exception of one. So maybe that was intentional.

I was very happy for Coates. He's not the most mobile player I have seen but his composure and positional play was excellent. He's also a real threat at corners.

Allen was incredible. Our star player.

The thing that impressed me most about Sterling was his discipline to the system that BR played. He has maturity beyond his tender years.

Skrtel was immense and his mistake is only teething problems in adapting to a new system.

Kelly looks like he's been playing for years and will only get better, a bit unlucky with the goal I though.

Shelvey was fantastic for me, he came on to replace Lucas and he actually added some attacking zest for the rest of the game.

The others did fine but the ones I mentioned took my eye, along with a flash of individual brilliance from Suarez.
