Easy for me to say 3,000 miles away, but I don't want pretty football.
i think we should aim to have a team that steam rollers teams. That means a big defense and big centre forwards. Two out wide who can cross the ball and two in the middle who can cover a lot of ground. Also, with that team we should be scoring around a goal a game from set pieces.
Simple really. Can I get the job when Meggo's done?
Not sure about Prutton being described as a grafter. He's obviously talented (ex-England U21) but has been discarded by clubs like Forest, Leeds and Southampton so maybe he doesn't graft enough? When we played them last month I thought he and Jonathan Douglas were terrific in midfield but I thought it was Douglas who did the grafting whereas Prutton seemed to be playing the sort of role we thought Potter was playing - tidying up and stroking the ball around. In other words i see him as a direct replacement for Potter - we still need a grafter to chase around and win things. Douglas would do nicely! If I remember rightly Prutton took some terrific corners - which would be nice. Is he a rare talent waiting to be inspired again by a manager like Megson? Or is he just another flawed 3rd Division midfielder? Time will tell so it's too early to be either disappointed or delighted by the move.
Want Or Need?
