I don't really know why we're after him. I think we need a "marquee" central midfielder and striker.
Bale and Lennon are quality wingers and we only really need backup for them. Adam Johnson and Junior Hoilett would have been perfect. I don't want us to spend £20m on someone who probably isn't as good as Lennon!
bale me out....I wouldn't have had johnson to be honest, he hasn;t really shown anything, he played okay at City a few times and the stage there is so big people went a bit over the top for him...Hoilett is interesting but still unsure whether he would have been ideal
tbh. even if he comes and doesnt play, but makes bale and lennon raise their game (which they need too), then he will be worth the money.. as on their day bale and lennon are simply unplayable
