And Wozniacki looking like she's going out in first round if she's not careful against Begu who is 1 set and a break up.

Utter demolition. Nice first rounder.

Schiavone dumped out in first round by rising star Sloane Stephens, Wozniacki out at first hurdle too.

Dolgopolov wins in 5 after losing first 2 sets.

Quite a few 5 setters in first round.

I watched Dolgopolov after Nole match a bit last night, he was two sets and a break down, spraying the ball everywhere, and although I was really tired and he was not playing great he was so mesmeriising with the way he serves and strikes the ball. I really thought he was going to lose the match and I'm glad he didn't.
Shame he's in Nole's quarter.

Great talent but also frustrating to watch.

Dolgopolov is probably the most exciting player I have ever seen, just brilliant a compete, uncalculating gambling and going for every shot 100%, really like that.
Utter gem.

Plus, he's got his own unique ball-striking and creative, almost bored time in his head which produces some breath-taking combinations nobody else plays.
The cost of that way of playing is consistency.
I used to be annoyed with the lack of discipline and success that follow him, and wish his coach could manage to tame just a tiny bit of that wildness of his, but realised it's probably virtually impossible. So I enjoy him as he is.

That is what I have been telling you for a couple of months now

No, what you have been telling was that Nole is playing rubbish

Nope, haven't said that at all, maybe you should try reading what I write instead of of imagining what I write.

No change there Jonty

Didnt see the Djokovic match but i would expect him to come through the way he did anyway!

On Dolgopolov, i just love watching this guy play, fantastic service action, so quick. Reminds me of Santoro in that he can be a magician when on form?

He hits the ball as it's on its way up, gives opponent no chance to read the serve.

Was a much lower ranked opponent but Nole did exactly what he needed and didn't get distracted at all.

Can't read much into teh early matches but at least there's nothing to worry about, whereas Murray still has some kinks to iron out but the aggression he showed v Bogomolov was really really good.

Yes, the agression is there which is good to see. He finally realises this is the way he needs to play from the beggining to the end of each event, not dependant on who he is playing. I really hope we can see a big imporvement on the first serve %. He really needs to step this up like he did at Wimbledon!!

I disagree. That was a classic Murray first rounder. He is no Nadal to blast from the word go.I suppose hes only got a plan A ) I watched a bit of that match and he played well, was striking the ball great, just needed tuning in.
He'll be lethal in week 2.

That's if he doesn't bump into someone who could take advantage of his laid-back start to matches.

not sure exactly what you're disagreeing with this time nitb, you just seem to disagree for disagreement's sake to be honest.

"whereas Murray still has some kinks to iron out "
we disagree on this bit. I htink Murray's fine and has nothing to iron out.

Murray hit more unforced errors in 3 sets than he normally does in 5 sets, that is the double edged sword of his aggressive tennis ie the kinks he needs to iron out.

Additionally his first serve percentage was under 50%, so he needs to get that clicking too.

All that is just lack of match practice which he is getting in the first week of this slam.
Some choose to call it rust.
