As you say at the bottom of this article, the remaining hours of the transfer window are crucial.
Rhodes is obviously a very good signing (no matter how overpriced), but if Venkean offset this by selling 2 or more major players (esp defenders) then the result will be bittersweet to say the least.
To be honest I'm surprised we've managed to keep the likes of Givet/Robinson etc up til now as I had them down as the first to leave post-relegation!
To my mind the owners have still not dipped into their own funds although I could be wrong. Thats not to say they have not spent and only time will tell if it is money well spent.
Any spending ought to have been done last year if they truly wanted to stay in the Premiership. Clearly Kean ought to have been fired off at least 10 month ago.
It is still a very confusing picture as far as I am concerned.
Basically our season rests upon Rhodes firing and somehow our 'defence' staying , sorry I mean becoming, solid. If this happens we will back in the Premiership next season even with Kean in charge.
I am hoping this means an end to Kean's excuses. He's got away thus far with telling the board we are moving in the right direction whilst getting a pay rise for delegating us.
I can't see how he can spend the most in the Championship and then have an excuse as we slide into mid table obscurity...
Pie I have really given up with the moron Kean!If he told me today was friday and tommorrow Saturday I think I would go and first check the Calender.
Steve Kean is the calender.
Agreed Pie. Signing Rhodes is a real sign of intent. Got to be and got to result in promotion. Kean has got to go if we're not on target for that. Although knowing Kean, he will have them convinced that relegation is the new promotion.
Some of the business has been good this window (Etuhu, Rhodes and I think Gomes). Think Rhodes and Gomes could be as good as anything else in this division. Still confused as to our approach (any Portugese player that isn't nailed down and no defenders).
Not that fussed about Formica (his position is covered and I don't think he's covered himself in glory ever). Pedersen would be a loss but, fair play to him if he gets himself a better option. Robinson (because of Bunn going), Hanley or Givet we cannot afford to lose. Ollson, whilst nominally a defender, is not so imortant although he is one of our few direct and pacey players.
The Zonz - well he ain't playing for Kean again so if we keep Kean selling him is the best thing we can do.
A Warnock return would be a great signing!
