There was no way that one star read that already.

Grow up.

FSG net spend in 4 transfer windows is something like £12-13M. Very canny businessmen

Tell that to the manager who has been stiffed. We are a joke of a club and have been for years

posted on 1/9/12

At least we didn't accept the £20m bid for Agger .

Can you imagine the reaction if we had though?

I'd say you were right if our league table position didn't suggest we are being flushed down the toilet.

It's precisely the lack of cover that's the problem. How likely is it that we will go through the season without a significant injury to one of our front players? Especially as the other teams know we have no cover!

This is total mismanagement and the wrong tactic. I mean they could have had Jordan Rhodes for 8m and at least we'd have had A striker to replace Carroll. Morgan just isn't ready...yet.

Proof to back that claim?

Thats a Fact

I think I would be banished from having any positive attitude if that happened

Kelly is god - its either the 1 star bandit, or someone who has just made an article opposite to your opinion. Happens all the time lad. I've given you 5 to not only even out the balance, but because you, like me, are not getting caught up in this tidal wave of pre-pubescent toy out of pram throwing nonsense from a surprisingly overwhelming majority of ja606.

The money is not the issue here. It's stiffing the new manager and lying to the fans that's annoying.

I am really struggling to put a positive slant on last night. I agree that youth needs a chance but for christs sake as a back up 20 minutes here and there giving them time to develop. Not Bam you are now in the first team step up and get some goals assists etc or you're out

I know it's so frustrating but I realise you get people like that everywhere in the world.

LFC Forever

I don't really think we have that attitude. Sterling has proved himself to become one of our best players in the first 5/6 games, I still question why we can't through youngsters into the limelight. It all comes down to their attitude at how they develop and clearly Bremdan thinks Morgan has a great attitude.

Is that you Jaaaahn?

Ferguson doesn't let this happen. If he sees a weakness in his team, he moves heaven and earth to get the player he needs - not wants, but needs. We need a striker since just after we realised Carroll wasn't too hot.

posted on 1/9/12

OP I don't agree with you.we have weakened our forward line for £2m rising to £3.5m in January and £5m in May.

The key question Io ask is, "is Andy Carroll a £2m player?"

The answer is an unequivocal no.

Thereby we would rather have him in the squad at this moment.

To not get Dempsey AND send Carroll on loan is bad management from whoever is responsible!

Shelveyville.

The United fans would disagree with you, go read their forum for the last 2-3 seasons they're been screaming for centre midfielders and Fergie didn't sign any of quality, instead he relied on his old guard.

Kuyt
Maxi
Bellamy
Aurelio

All the wrongside of 30 and on huge wages they weren't earning.

Spearing
Adam
Carroll

Players who were not going to fit in to the style of play that the new manager wants to play or simply were not good enough!

Suarez
Skrtel

Both signed new deals at the club, meaning we keep our 2 best players from last season!

We've kept hold of Agger which as the owners were selling everything that was'nt nailed down to make as much money as possible, is a master stroke!

Allen
Borini
Assaidi
Yesil

Allen being brought in seems like the best £15 mill we've spent in years having watched him out perform Yaya Toure last week. Add to that the accusation of a young Italian international that was part of Italy's euro squad a very promising German youth goal machine, Assaidi and the fact that we beat Arsenal to Sahin.

The only thing we didn't get is a striker on the last day which was disappointing but we didn't sell arguably our best players like Arsenal and Spurs did. Newcastle didn't sign anyone of note and we are in the hunt with the teams that we will be battling with.

Good article OP.

RR even if we got Dempsey after loaning Carroll, it was bad management from whoever was responsible, as we needed a main striker who could hold the ball in attack.

You fail to mention the tens of millions that it will have taken to remove a lot of those players from the wage bill and your valueations are nothing like what's been reported in the media but hey, you must know everything.

£142.2m - £91.4m = £50.8m

Net spend in 4 transfer windows: £12.7m

Going on your unsupported values it's not £12.7m net spend in 4 windows it's £12.7m per window!

I have been quite supportive of FSG during this window but I would say my faith in them is being tested. I can't see how anyone wouldn't be asking questions now.

It's not the exits, the high earners moving on is great management, but the failure to address our acknowledged weakness and, to some extent, creating new ones.

I like Allen a lot, great signing. I'm not as enthusiastic about Borini but I think he's do well. Sahin I've never seen but report bode well. None are goalscorers though. Someone about asked why we're so bothered about letting Carroll go when we'll been slating him for 15 months, that's spin as far as I'm concerned because the player I've witness post January is completely different to the player that arrived. Is he wonderful? No. Is he better than nobody on the bench? Obviously.

We have not addressed goalscoring, don't think anyone would suggest we have, but I'd also like to take you back 18 months when this board was full of people annoyed that while we had a decent team our squad just couldn't compete with our rivals - to an extent this window has reopened that issue.

I'm not panicking or angry but I am concerned.

Borini is a goalscorer, he has been throughout his short career so far.

======================================
Signing a deal means nothing in modern football. If Chelsea or City need a striker in January they will bid for Suarez say 30M, double your wages, guranteed CL football and trophies and you watch how quick that transfer request comes in

King Luis, net spend means players in minus players out.

TOOR - Borini's record in Italy is decent yeah but the non goalscorer comment is based on what I've seen to date. I'd say he is more a 15 goal contributor than a 25 goal man. More a Kuyt than a Fowler basically. Not a criticism, just an observation and comment.
