I hope the lad will get chances this season.
I think he played just fine for his first game, shame about the disallowed goal, as that's the kind of ball Suarez should be sticking in the net but isn't!! I know he setup the disallowed goal, so luis was never going to score it :D I think Suarez either gets his eye and starts sticking them away or he starts to seriously think about passing on some of those opportunities to his team mates like Morgan, sterling, borini etc, I get the feeling that luis is just trying far too hard and that's hampering him and the team.
Siege mentality - Liverpool fans do it best.
I think it's more of a reaction to the striker issue.. If Suarez gets injured we're in trouble..
I'm not saying we should judge players after one game but I think you can usually tell whether players have ability.
Morgan was lacking in the game against Hearts
He was played outwide, he hasn't got the pace to run past players all game.
When he was through the middle he scored, he's a goal getter. Bit like Van Nistelrooy was. (not saying he'll be as good wums)
He outpaced a few players and drilled a shot on target that was well saved, thats better than a lot of our strikers recently, give him a chance.
It seems we have shipped out most of the dross so people are going to start picking on the kids and Hendo despite what they actually do on the pitch, I thought he linked up well.
OP
Agreed played through the middle he will get goals. He also works hard to close down which will go down well with BR. Lots of people have been saying we need a goal poacher, well there's one right there.
To judge a young player after one game is utterly ludicrous.
That said we shouldn't be in a position where Morgan or Yesil is our 3rd choice striker.
We are in that position though and the two lads need patience and support when they given a chance, not barracked or written off as duds on one mediocre performance.
Like all young players he will need to be shown patience.
he's a prospect
not a first team player
Morgan needs to knuckle down in the reserves. He isn't ready yet and rightly people pointed out that he was woeful against Hearts. Yes everybody understands he is young but that doesn't mean his performance somehow multiplies by 100. He could well become a good player in future but is certainly not ready now.
he looked lively to me. made loads of runs and does have a knack of being in the right place at the right time as shown by his 'goal' which was then ruled out. anyone who slates morgan after one game should be ashamed. gerrard wasn't exactly sublime on his debut and he is one of the clubs best all time players. leave it yeeaahh
