The fact is that wages were out of control, and we will spend what we make, FSG are slowly increasing this, and so our expendable income will also increase,
we are also playing with a new style and manager that will all take time to bed in,
Patience is required, both with Brendan and FSG
They didn't pump 100m in. Stop believing what you read in the papers.
Tom Werner has also made quite a few interesting quotes, a lot of them appear to be bs.
nowt wrong with FSG. Apart from brendan playing suarez in the wrong position, he's been excellent. personally i think he needs two more transfer windows. we need a striker who can hold the ball up when it's played into feet. llorente is the ideal man. in fact i'd rather sell suarez and get llorente than keep suarez up front on his own like he is. another point is that shelvey is a big step up on gerrard
I am most angry at Kenny and Comolli's incompetence and wastefulness in the transfer window that really is going to make things difficult in future.
However I'm also annoyed at FSG for punishing Brendan for Kenny's mismanagement of money. How can you back one manager with endless funds and give the next manager a shoestring budget to work from.
Awful.
No, they didn't pump in 100 million.
However, more than 100 million WAS spent on players who were not, are not and never will be worth that money.
Let's move away from this £100 million myth in reality it's a fallacy which detracts from the actual situation. Aprox £57 million was recycled cash from the Torres and Babel sales which went on two direct replacements in Suarez and carroll, note: replacements being the operative word. The remaining amount when including other departures is not a lot to replace what was an asset strpped squad inherited from the previous owners. Yes some of the transafers fees spent on Downing and such don't look like good value however the real problem the FSG regime inherited was a very high payrole where certain players Cole etc. were/are a big drain on the club, alot of work last summer and this summer has gone on to remove these players. Unfortunately the avaliable to replace a number of older and high earning players this summer has been limited and will be largely cancelled out by the 500 K a week pay role savings.
longer term the FSG approach is going to be the right one however it's going to be unpleasent for us fans for some time yet.
downwithwhiskeynose : Agree with you, but regardless of where the money came from, we paid out more than 100,000,000 pounds on players who are barely worth half that amount.
Agree about the need for patience, JA606 is going to be ridiculous at times this season!
Still. We could get relegated and I will not stop supporting Brendan.
