"What on earth are we to do with Mr Bopara who is bowling superbly and batting as he always has, rubbish???"

What was he doing against Australia?

Bopara has been good in ODI's in the last year.

At the moment I would not change a winning team, Ravi is a confidence player and at the moment he looks pretty edgy at the crease. He was playing well before his break so I would show him some faith for now and hope that confidence and form come back.

One of the strengths of this England set up has been sticking with players and really giving them a chance, don't want to go back to the bad old days of dropping players all the time.

Agree with Neon and the rest here.
Let's stick with him in the ODI format.
Anybody surprised by his efforts with the ball? He is bowling against tremendous and destructive batsmen and is doing the job Colly Wobble used to do.
I have to say I am impressed with him in that regard.

hmm Neon. Believe it or not I like Ravi and would love it if he could be as good as that which you have said.

He has done a tremendous job for England this past week and I hope he gets to play in the last match, which I am sure he will.

Chuffed to rocks for Ravi the bowler at this time

I always liked his bowling. Considered in tge CC as a partnership breaker.

I wonder if Bopara's career will be similar to Bell's - Flatter to deceive, then fulfill his promise in his late 20's.

Good comparison Yorkie, and one thing is for sure, our selectors seem to like something about him.
On the subject of Dinger, boy oh boy is he becoming a really good player isn't he?
Again, I have always liked him and we know how tough it was for him for a long time.

Why isn't Jonny Bairstow playing for us this week?

Yeah Bell is class. Cricket is a strange sport. Like myself, you support Gods own football team. Within a few games I can tell certain players are good enough or not - Neil Collins for example.

Cricket is so much different. I was one if the many who last year said Bell should never play one day cricket for England again after over 100 one dayers with an average record and others in the mix.

Personally, I would play Bairstow with the gloves at six instead of Kieswetter.

I would also play Woakes at seven.

Are you talking about Test Match cricket now Yorkie?

No Maksi - My one day team:

Cook, Bell, Trott, KP, Morgan, Bairstow wk, Woakes, Swann, Broad, Finn, Anderson.

That is a magic team mate

You don't rate Kieswetter? He was murdering Dale Steyn today

i hope ben stokes finds his way in the team, it would be good to have another durham player in the squad

about 5 years ago we would have 3-4 durham players playing

Didn't see the game today gents. Recording the highlights for later. Impressed with how they've responded to going behind in this series so far though.

How good was Bell's knock?

Yorkie,

On the subject of Bell, hopefully he can kick on now and make the spot his own. One thing I will say though is that his Test form has been patchy to say the least since India last year. No hundreds since then and he wont have happy memories of his last tour of the Sub-Con with India coming up, so maybe a few scores in this series will help find his Test form and bring some fluency back in his game.

Bopara continues to frustrate. I know he can do an underrated job with the ball but he's in the team for his runs. Might sound a bit knee-jerk after his returns against Australia but he never fills me with any confidence.

For me, sadly destined to be remembered as another 'what if', another Graeme Hick.

I don't know much about Ben Stokes Demba. What sort of things has he been getting up to recently?

Remember we are trying to be the best cricket team in the world so need some great players to do that, not just guys that are alright

posted on 2/9/12

he's been excellent this season maksi, he has moved up the order and that has seemed to make him an even better player, i also rate scott borthwick a leg spinner

posted on 2/9/12

Good to hear Demba. It's important that we have so many players as possible playing great cricket. Have these 2 guys played for the Lions and did they do well?
You are not the first person on here who has rated Borthwick

congrats maksi. no.1 and deservedly so. can't hear that little indian creep chirping anymore.

tbh pakking what else would an indian want. England will remain no.1 till india series, and knowing that we have whitewashed them in 2 consecutive series, it would be a gd chance for us to snatch that no.1 and make it ours.

and anyway I had maintaned that England losing that 1 odi match doesnt make a difference. They have been very consistent and are still consistent.

India away is our hardest test. Has been for years. The last 2 or 3 visits I have got up to watch on TV at 3am thinking I know we will lose this game. India had a golden generation of players - Not just the Sachins, but lads like Pathan who could come in at the end and smash the ball to the Ghanges.

They don't have that feel about them anymore, yet still should be respected in their own country. Their main players now are Kohli, Raina, Dhoni and Zaheer for me.

Regarding Kieswetter, he is decent - Certainly more suited to lower order rather than opening as can't handle pace - remember Brett Lee? I just prefer both Bairstow and Buttler and feel it would be better to get one of them in the team.

Stokes is a great shout. This season his batting has tailed off though. Last season he was immense before he got injured. I really like him. Both he and Woakes are genuine all rounders I hope to see in the full England set up now.
