Best CM's ever?

Juninho never really performed at International level. And he never performed at the upper echelons of the game like others.

He was basically playing in a monopoly when Lyon gazumped all before them.

If you include Juninho P, you might as well add Ze Roberto of Bayern

Never saw much of Juninho other than free-kicks in the CL.

Molby was like a fat Xavi so he is worth a shout.

I felt he deserved the inclusion for his free kicks. I dont think i have seen a player bar Zico, who hit the target more and scored more from free kicks. But i guess his overall game was sub standard compared to the rest of that list

Zola was awesome at free-kicks. More a SS though.

It it was a list of best free kick takers ever, then I'd certainly have him on the list. Nothing more than a decent player otherwise.

Yes, he is arguably the greatest free-kick taker of the last generation - though Hristo Stoichkov was the best at that for me.

Juninho P actually had a good game, he just played in the era of the three Rs and could barely get a game. And before that it was Bebeto who occupied his role.

Ronnie, Rivaldo, Bebeto were all better.

TRC - whats your thoughts on Garrincha as a player. I feel he has been under rated over the years as one of the greats.

The 26 goals was from the right as it goes.
----------------------------------------

Hmm, not sure that is correct. In the 08/09 season I am sure that he spent the majority of the season playing in the false no.10 role, with Masch and Alonso behind him. I know that he has played on the right, but the season when he got 26, I am prettty sure he was in behind Torres.

I think people rate Garrincha don't they but it's the whole Pele thing. Not many actually saw him playing football at club level.

Any player that has rickets, smokes and can perform drunk gets my vote.

"Seen a debate earlier regarding who was better out of Scholes and Xavi"
--------------------------------

Xavi is on a whole other level to Scholes, really don't think these two should ever be compared.

He is one of my favourite players and what a character. How can you top losing your virginity to a goat?

"Fair enough. Gerrard might have been world class in his pomp."

"You wrote that"

My God. This guy is ridiculous. So you pick one part of all those comments and try to play it differently.

Keyword in there is 'might'. And I did say I had no problem with it.

I've stated on many occasions that I didn't think he was world class on here. Grasping at straws.

"Your posts are getting very messy - almost desperate in their structure. There are more and more insults coming out. Par for the course when someone is on the backfoot."

That's amusing seeing as you're the one that's thrown insults from the get go and have done so more than me, consistently. Another failure of an argument.

"In my opinion, having watched him my whole adult life, he has been World class as a midfielder.

Lots of people agree with me mainly because they have watched him too."

Once again, seeing as you struggle with comprehending simple points, I'll reiterate it.

I have no problem with saying Gerrard is world class. That is your opinion and you're entitled to it.

I just don't agree with the usage of accolades and trophies and means for argument.

"You say my comments are baseless and yet you say he never would have done well in a foriegn league. How baseless is that?"

I explained my point. Something you're unable to do.

I feel he doesn't have technique or ability to cause much damage in those leagues.

Here in the Prem one can get away with power and speed, and below par footballing ability.

Gerrard was an athletic and strong player who relied on his physique.
He got away easy here.
Hardly baseless.

Just do yourself a favour and quit posting.

From what i have seen, albeit youtube clips etc, Garrincha had an amazing technique, i read that one knee was bigger than the other and this helped him dribble better.

posted on 4/9/12

Yeah, Garrincha was a top player. Though in Brazil, he is rated as much as Pele - a bit OTT IMO.

Garrincha is probably the best dribbler the world has ever seen. His footwork is as mesmerising as any.

Not much to choose between i am afraid. Xavi has been successful internationally but doesnt play for England. Scholes also scored a lot of goals from distance including some crackers that Mr Hernandez can only dream of doing.

You've been owned today I'm afraid. Please keep coming though. Well funny.

You may not like the accolades argument but it's been used to support a wider point - something you can't handle or counter. Bye then.

Sorry but I think you are wrong. Do a little search about Gerrard's best season and you will see plenty of articles discussing his partnership with Torres/how the defensive partnership of Alonso and Masch have given him creative freedom etc. There is even some quoted from Torres and Gerrard talking about their partnership.

Funny how Gerrard could not manage in the bundesliga as he is big and strong but Podolski going to be "one of the best strikers in the world".

What a noddy!

I'm going nowhere dubbed. You keep looking like a fool. I'll keep relying on fact rather than conjecture. You even agree with me on the point that he was World class. You fixate on teh accolades all you like - you're still wrong. You've still been owned.

No - he scored 26 goals from the rw. It was his best season for goals. He did not like it there. Rafa moved him back insde. Ask ANY LFC fan.

Fair point red. But when someone is talking such utter guff I find it hard to resist. especially showing this one up. Fact is you agreed with me.

I've responded to all your points. And I just go wherever your idiotic mind takes the argument.
That's how superior I am to you. Without sounding cocky.

How is that relevant? You really have nothing here.

No I do not agree with you on the fact that he was world class. Look at this idiot.
I've explained my stance to you, countless of times.

Making stuff up. What sad little div.

Facts? Accolades and awards. Yeaaah Facts!

But hey, keep repeating the fact that I am "owned" like a 14 year old.
Makes your points more credible.
