Criteria for World Class

Depends on your definition of world class. Perhaps we could have a thread discussing the situation?

"On what possible basis can you justify Carzola is better than Nasri?"

By watching them play, and then comparing them. You should try that. Instead of blindly throwing around names of players who's positions you don't even know.

Daz, kick some sense into this tool please.

Podolski will become one of the best in the world. Give him 2 seasons at Arsenal. Just you watch.

Oh ffs who cares who's world class, who's better than who etc etc

I personally love Cazorla and wouldn't swap him for anyone else in the league.

That is out of question. Why do we discuss it?

These articles about who is world class are tedious. Especially given that everyone has a different definition of what it is.

It's like arguing about what is better out of an apple and an orange without being able to come to an agreement on what an apple and orange actually are.

I'm pretty sure those 'Cazorla>Kagawa' 'Cazorla>Hazard' type articles on your board is what started this all off a while back

These Players whose positions I don't know, what would you call them?

Exactly AFL. Seen it numerous times over the last few days.

And then some of the arguments are ridiculous. Because people will argue in favour of a player being world class by their own definition, and therefore, utterly pointless.

Cazorla is a special player right now, undoubtedly.

Everything else is academic.

posted on 4/9/12

Exactly. Cazorla has shown his talent, what's there to discuss?

There's clearly not much between him and silva. I don't rate Mata as highly as Silva/Cazorla, that's just my opinion.

posted on 4/9/12

I'd love to have Mata though. Last season we were close to securing both Cazorla and Mata. Imagine them feeding RVP last season. Strong team.

Cazorla is a fantastic player and has a lot of talent, but the Arsenal fans have gone very overboard on the basis of 3 games. He was very good in Spain also, but he's gone from being a very good player to an elite in the space of a short time.

Talent isn't everything, as United fans will testify to with Nani, as application and performance has to come with it.

Not saying he won't be amazing, but people are a little premature with their raving of Cazorla.

Completely agree DTKF

posted on 4/9/12

Darren, I completely agree. Although I do feel that some United fans have done the same with Kagawa. I think that Cazorla and Kagawa are in the same boat.

posted on 4/9/12

I agree, same has been done with Kagawa, and we can only really speculate as to how well they will perform.

However, I have noticed that the only comparisons a lot of United fans make about Kagawa are with our own players such as Welbeck and Rooney as they're in direct competition, so is fair enough.

Whereas I have noticed Cazorla being spoke about in comparison to other players established at their clubs, which is unfair, as Cazorla isn't yet.

Big boppa you are correct, some fans on our board have gone so far as to say he could be one of our best signings of the fergie era, sometimes you are hoping for the player to have a bad game so people will reign these comments in a little.

Not literally^^

posted on 4/9/12

That's true, but you know what Arsenal supporters are like on this website. I take most things that my fellow Arsenal fans state with a pinch of salt.

Earl Brutus, for what it's worth, I believe that Kagawa will prove to be an astute signing.

Kagawa and Cazorla need to perform to a sufficient level on a consistent basis before people start going overboard.

Yeah fair enough AFL.
