Reports that the player was close to snubbing the Ibrox club for Espanyol were dismissed by agent Pedro Bravo, who told Sportsmail last night: ‘We are in discussions with Rangers and only Rangers.'

he is not going to Espanyol that is for sure

they don't have any money Villareal could pay him what he wants but espanyol are in 100 million pounds of debt and are cutting back

they couldn't match our wages never mind give him what he's getting in England

He told the Scottish press. Meanwhile in Spain...

why do people in football talk so much rubbish, either his agent is lying or the espanyol chairman is lying.

either way, one of them is full of it, whats the point in that.

what did the espanyol chairman say?

he knows he has little money to spend

if they really wanted cuellar they would have sold us Rodriguez last week

his agent responded to the claims that espanyol could sign him and dismissed it as nonsense

probally because he knows espanyol can't pay him the wage he would want

Oh do behave

And why would Espanyol sell you a player for a measly £200k?

By all accounts he is still 2 or 3 weeks away from running.
Not sure how long after that before full contact training.

“He has been an option for us for months now and this is the perfect time to progress matters,” said Planes.

“We have spoken to his agent and are ignoring reports that he will go to Rangers.”

that was from an english paper on saturday night

his agent said he was only talking to Rangers on sunday night

his agent knows the interest is not serious
espanyol have not had a bid accepted and are unlikely to ever bid for him

they have been linked with him for months now
but never made a bid

I must be one of the very few Rangers fans who are
very wary of this proposal. No doubt on his day
Cuellar is a fine player but his injury record and
possible confidence loss is a concern from 2006-08
he was on top of his game and flying, two Uefa Cup
finals and an integral element for Ossasuna and
Rangers. In the last three years he has at best
struggled, played out of position, left out of team,
picking up niggly injuries. Alex McLeish would be an
authority on a CD and if he sees him surplus to
requirements that speaks volumes, basically he is
saying that he is not up to the EPL.
I would keep tabs on him to the end of the transfer
window, but peruse other options. Is Bartley available
after failing to make the Arsenal Premiership squad,
step up the interest in Rodriguez but don't dive in
to sign an injured player on the basis of what he did
four seasons ago.

Mauricio Pochettino, has confessed in the concentration of Peralada profile sign a midfield organizer is the ultimate goal of the institution, but pointed out that the limited economic capacity of the Catalan club greatly hinders the operation.

"A numerical level other players missing in midfield. We've said from the sports area at the beginning of preseason, sign a midfielder is a priority but we have no budget for the player who would like and bring a player is not at zero cost easy, "said the coach-white.

Pochettino highlighted in this sense, the contribution of the youngest if not finally arrive no signing: "We have people like Pau or dart for the position, but it would be good to bring a player with more guarantees and thus not hasten the growth of the youth players, because they should have that responsibility. they want a midfielder but are skint

as far as i can see they signed a mexican international centre back and a left back on loan from Milan Last week

if they want a midfiler but don't have any money to buy one where are they getting 2 million pounds and 25k per week?

villareal maybe but certainly not espanyol

I suspect McLeish wants his Birmingham old boy, Scott Dann, in. But you're right in that there is no guarantee Cuellar would be the same success second time around - though there are never any guarantees with signings. There is talk in the papers that Bartley is coming back on loan. Again, we'll see.

no need to get on the defensive pollok you asked what was said and i told you.

if its in the papers its 50/50 i dont pick and choose which ones to believe unless there are actual quotes in it, "record sport understands" isnt gospel to me.

can i throw in that last year rangers were skint and spent 4 million on jelavic...

it happens, either way im not fussed, celtic win all their games they win the league, thats all that troubles me.

He's definitely worth the gamble............we've seen enough of him in European action to know his quality, he's had a few injuries but that's why we're getting him for 2m.

We could have him, Bartley and Bougherra for next season and any 2 of them would easily be the best CH pairing in the league.

i think rangers strength is that their team has a workmanlike mentality. throughout the squad.

I would wonder if they buy players if that will hold out, depends on the player i guess.

And is that the same 'workmanlike mentality' that saw them rattle the goals in for fun when the pressure was on after the split?

Celtic fans can believe all they want that Rangers are just a team that grinds out results. They are not.

Yes we are without doubt better than Celtic at grinding out results on the occasions that require it.

But when Rangers go for the throat they are the most lethal attacking team in the SPL. Last seasons stats back that assertion up 100%.

rangers grind out results
anti football
park the bus

all accusations levied at the bears

how hard is it nowadays to part with your season ticket money every year?

posted on 18/7/11

After the split, Rangers were easily the best side in the SPL.

THat's all that mattered in the end.

It is not hard at all to part with season ticket
money especially when success on the field
is maintained season on season.
Since the Celtic Renaissance Rangers have
won 5/11 Titles, 4/11 Scottish Cups and 6/11
League Cups; 45% of all domestic honours
plus a European Final.
In the 14 seasons prior to that we won 12 titles,
5 Scottish Cups and 8 League Cups; 60% of
domestic honours and missed Champions
League final by one point.
It would be fair to say that the money has been
well spent these past 25 years, how about yours.

After the split, both teams won the same amount of points....

With Celtic drawing at Ibrox.
