Load of rubbish. Created nothing going forward. Dodgy defending towards the end.
A word for Sam Tw@tterface as well who after bringing up the stat about City not scoring with ample time to go, you knew they would then get a goal.
Another season ends in disappointment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some perspective needed - you draw the best team in Europe in the cup and your odds of silverware plummet. To win a cup comp you need the rub of the green and the luck of the draw. Still got top 4 to play for and technically still in the title race. Only for the league to focus on now so need to make every game count.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They weren't playing their strongest team and we were playing them at home, with a decent record against them. Of course we were playing a top team but it feels like a chance wasted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither were we
We had the following missing
Son
Bissouma
Sarr
Maddison (until 25mins to go)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's why we should have given Maddison more time. I said on the live thread the other day I'd start him if he's ready to go.

Yeah I don’t think we were bad. Thought some of our quick passing and tight space play was excellent (apart from PEH’s feck ups) but it was the final third where we were hesitant and indecisive. Our defence is really good and I think on another day with Biss, Sarr and Son around and Madison match fit we could win that - we aren’t as far away as you might think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I thought about you too. Thought your defensive shape was excellent and your pressing was good too, just missed quality in the final third.
Had that game been three weeks ago, you’d have won it.
Whats up with Ange btw? he can barely string two sentences together without coughing.

Should have just risked starting Maddison or at least played him for longer. Our last chance to win a trophy and Maddison if playing well increases our chances of winning that game. Our forward line is so noticeably bereft of creativity and threat without Son and Maddison.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maddison didn’t look match fit at all and Ange obviously knew that based on his comments pre match. For a player that has been out 3 months that’s the worst game to come back into with the intensity that City played at tonight - judging by his 25 minute cameo it looked the right decision not to start him IMO. Hopefully that game time will have prepped him for Brentford.

Maybe just tell them to pass to someone making a run would have done
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was watching some of our chances to get forward in the first half and it was a poor ball played or the wrong ball all the time. Even a rusty Maddison would have just added some more quality in those moments.
We should have tried everything to win that game being our last realistic chance at a trophy.

A not 100% match fit Maddison probably still offers more than either Werner or Johnson going forward.
Oh well, we'll just have to try and claw back points in the league now and try and get into a title race if we can.
To be fair if you'd have lost that game to say Fulham or Brighton say then you might have a reason to complain but City can, and have beat damn near any team in the world so it's not a disaster?
You're a better team than this time last year, missing some hugely important players and were maybe a bit off with your passing tonight, I'd assume that this time next season you'll be better again? If the board can get behind Ange and get a few players in, get some out then you'd have to be positive don't you think?
