Looks like he has gone with strong players. Werner misses chanced but he doesn't get bullied off the ball and can hold it up. Same with Kulu. Hobby is a steady eaddy.

Son could have a long afternoon.

Lets ave it. Every gunner is a runner. Up the Spurs.

I get Kulu playing. He holds the ball up well. It’s about as cautious a team as ange will pick. Kulu and hojbjerg offering more defensive strength. Stay in the game until 60th minute then bring on pace, Arsenal have played a lot and may be tired

The fact that Biss has been dropped for a player everyone knows is leaving in the summer tells you how much Ange doesn’t trust him anymore.

Werner is such a spurs signing and the reason we just won’t take the next step. Cheap and average.

Personally think three players on the bench should be starting but oh well

Midfield really need to find a bit of form today.

I'm really glad that Deki is starting, against Newcastle we had no out ball when pressed because none of the front 3 could make it stick.

hobby has largely been poor when he's started but there's only so many times you can sub Bissouma off before you change things up. I would have gone with sarr over one of Bentancur or hobby because think with neither sarr nor Bissouma we are missing some running power. Ange clearly gone for the two who are the bravest on the ball

Richy also should have started but we don't know what his fitness is like

Yeah, this is my thoughts as well. Lacked strength and ability to hold up the ball. Newcastle tore us apart with half their team missing. We needed to make massive changes.

I’m actually really pleased Ange has shown a little caution by playing PEH. It proves he’s not completely gung-ho. I do worry about our lack of mobility in the middle of the park though. We could get the run around.

I guess the hope is with about 10 days more rest than them we should outrun them regardless

I'm pretty happy with this team. I like that it's a bit more defensive with PEH and also gone with Davies at LB in the absence of Udogie.

A free week is helpful. Two weeks and I think you lose rhythm. I think we’ll be quite sluggish out of the traps and then work our way into the game. They won’t be tired. They’re chasing the league so adrenalin will get them through it.

You’d think that but not playing has a bigger effect. Players lose that momentum and sharpnesses you only get by playing competitive games.

For me it’s less about this game and more about having a little more faith in Ange’s mindset. It gives me hope that he’s happy to tweak things in order to be more solid.

I think it's interesting you've interpreted it that way.

imo Hobby and Bentancur in for Sarr and Bissouma are attacking changes

Yes I'm thinking similar... perhaps he's learning that all out attack in every game doesn't work in the PL.

We have a lot of energy and legs to come off the bench. If we are in a good place around HT/60 min mark then we have Bissouma/Sarr/Richarlison to outrun everyone else on the pitch (+ GLC is decent enough too)

I don't think its attacking, more changing how we build-up and use the ball. Be a lot more long passing rather than dribbling.

posted on 28/4/24

Bissouma doesn't really do much dribbling though when he's pressed, he ends up just passing back to the CBs

imo we've sacrificed ball retention and running power for two players who are much more risk-inclined on the ball

I don’t understand why sarr has fallen a little out of favour with ange? Yes his form has dipped a bit like the whole team, but no more than biss/bentancur and for me he’s our strongest midfielder and only true box to box powerhouse

posted on 28/4/24

I think he does, just is off form. It seems based on the midfield we are looking to the wingers early and often to do something.

I'm not sure he's fallen out of favour - I wonder if Ange just considered Bentancur ahead of him in the pecking order.
