Lamela didn't have his greatest game today Chicken but over the last 20 games he has been a vital part of the team...so not sure what help the daily paper will be to your one man crusade.

Yes we wouldn't want your beloved Lamela dropped now would we?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally would happily see Lamela dropped provided we put a better player in. At this moment in time I dont see a better player in our squad who deserves a starting place in front of Lamela.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I could name at least 3, possibly 4. Easy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously not that easy as we're still waiting....

Maybe I never made the question clear enough

Sorry for logging off yesterday, Mrs Chicken cooked me a lovely roast dinner with all the trimmings so I thought i better show her some attention.

Firstly the morning ratings (as promised). As expected (and proof that it’s not just my judgment ), according to my morning paper Lamela was on par with the lowest rated Spurs player with 6/10 – which I actually think is quite flattering. Eriksen scored 6/10 but was replaced on 69 minutes, and the back 5 also rated 6/10 which isn’t surprising seeing as it was largely one-sided. So whilst he wasn’t the only player with this low rating, he was again rated as (equal to) our worst player, and this is consistent week after week.

All players will have a below average game from time to time – this is normal – but Lamela’s frequent underperforming is having a negative effect on the team. Basically the team are carrying Lamela and it’s not right.

Poch is doing a really good job but he needs to stop being so stubborn and persisting with picking this weak link or it will be another case of “what if?” come the end of the season.

As for the players who should replace Lamela, well the obvious 2 are Son or Chadli, and as you already know i would also have Townsend over him too - but i appreciate this is not a popular viewpoint on here.

And when all are fit, i would expect Lamela to also be behind Mason and Dembele too, so thats 5 players easy!

Finally, Harry gets a rest

The kid went on our US tour didn't he? Bit of a punt, but you've got to buy a ticket and all that

So Lamela is wholly respnsible for the points we've dropped this season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Who said that?

Actually Chicken, you did or you at least implied it with your comment below. I don't think you will ever give Pochettino any credit because of your misguided support for Sherwood

Lamela has indeed taken time to settle, but has showed a willingness to graft & work for the TEAM. Something that your beloved Townsend has failed to do. Also we do not know enough of what has gone on behind the scenes with Townsend's behaviour, do we?

Poch has obviously not been happy with Townsend, hence his non selection!

Getting a medal for most improved player stopped in the U10's. He's a poor player still and is costing us many points.

We went on the tour and impressed by all accounts. Not sure if he's for the main squad or the youth team though

Luka, you only have to look at the 5 players he said could easily take his place to know he's on the WUM.

Vert,

I don't think Chicken is on the WUM, it's worse than that, i think he has a touch of xenophobia. He's afraid of foreign players seemingly getting preferential treatment over the english lads. He has b1tched one too many times in this sort of situation over the years for it to be anything else, i'm afraid to say. Chicken, you should embrace the talents this world has to offer, you're missing out

As you later acknowledge, I have backed Poch all the way, and still continue to do so, I just think his judgment on this player is wrong and is contributing to some loss of points. Nothing more – nothing less.

I have accepted Townsend isn’t in his plans – there is no doubt on this point – but this doesn’t change my opinion on the subject. He will be gone in January anyhow, so that’s that one put to bed....although i'm sure Luka will bring it up in debate in about 12-18 months time....

Not sure there are that many creaming over him, just a lot of people who recognise what he brings to the team these days. Yes, he has off days, but so does every player.

Is he worth the fee we paid yet? No, but if he continues to improve then we won't have done too badly. Despite assertions to the contrary, we don't have anyone in the current squad better than him in that position right now.

Hard work and endeavour isn't all he brings tho

Compared to the vast majority of wingers his link up play, eye for a pass, etc is excellent

His goals and assists this season have also been decent, although can be improved of course

That said, he still probably won't ever be a £30m player. But a £20-25m one? Yes, why not...
