In the 4-4-3 of last season, Bentaleb was playing the "grafter" role in the middle three. Where the Modric talk comes from, I know not.

Anyway, what you doing on Spurs 606 during "normal" hours, sunshine !!??

The premier league "b"

How will this work? Just like a reserve league?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just the same as now mate the only real change is instead of 3 overage players you can have 4.

You have to have a settled structure nobody cares because the format changes year on year. Put some pride back into reservish football.

It all depends on what stage of the development the kids are at there are promising ones about.

They have been a few under 18s given chances the likes of joe prichard, georgiou, maghoma (stand out in his age group) winks, akindayini and most recently oduwa who trained with the first team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maghoma, never see that name and he's the 2nd one we've had at the club. Is he related to Jacques at all?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah Jacques is his big brother. Jacques represents Congo and Christian declared himself (well last I heard for England).

Christian is a stand out centre back playing in the under 18's at the age of 15 years old. Top prospect.

I thought I heard somewhere that there is a move to make B teams more like the spanish system.

Where Tottenham B, or any B, could be a seperate team in the league system, obviously they could never be in the same league as the parent club and cannot enter the cup competitions, but apart from that they start at the lowest possible level and then work their way up to find their level , Players can migrate between the two teams with very few restrictions.

maybe I just heard that someone wanted it that way - and to be fair I can see why

How competitive/useful was the old "Football Combination" league in the 80s (for those ITK) ??

For senior players, the U21 league is nothing more than a run-out after injuries etc.

I like the idea of a tottenham B team working there way up from conference to championship

Hengy - me too

They say it works well for everyone as the lower league teams get to play at bigger stadiums, larger crowds and therefore more revenue, when they play a Prem B team.

In Spain they employ a manager who plays similar in style to the first team and then the players are ready and match fit whenever needed, also a good shop window for the players that arent going to make the first team.

The 3rd year City have now failed to reach the quarters, even with their spending.

We did it at the first attempt.

"Tbf, we didn't get barca"

We were very lucky to get drawn in CL pot 2 with 58 odd ranking points.
<Citeh> had 70 odd pts last May, and failed to get into CL pot 2 this season by less than one pt.

"Just Inter, AC & Madrid all the easy teams"

We were fortunate to get Inter at the start of their decline.
AC Milan were past it (according to some - well at least until ostensibly the same team turned up in the 2012 CL ) .

Shame we didn't beat Madrid as the next tie would have Barca.
As a purist I really wanted to see tika-taka vs the Bale/Lennon blitzkrieg.

Some would say this barca team is on a decline from previous seasons.

"Some would say this barca team is on a decline from previous seasons."

I'd take most of the players from the 'Barca 2013-14 on a decline' squad if they are up for sale at a decent price.

Team news

@SpursOfficial: On team news, Tim reported that Younes, Ade, Aaron, Kyle Walker and Hugo hadn’t travelled.

@SpursOfficial: Tim: 'They all have niggles. They will miss this game but we hope they will be ready on Sunday. It’s an opportunity for the other lads.'
