Best mates with Alli though is only reason I don't want him to go
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fack that. When that is the reason u want him to stay its proof he can go. Do u think dele would care who his mate played with if he was at barca etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get your point but I think a few people might think the same thing. I think he is overrated though

Dier for sure is overrated. Poch loves him for some reason

Just got home - were we really that bade? Any good performances? Pre-season or were we just that bad?

City out pressed us and outplayed us. Dominated the ball and created way more chances

Yes we were poor tonight especially defensively but it's just a pre season game.

Walker gone and others will want to go soon as well ??

All I can see is a very tightly knit squad that wear the shirt with pride.

We let Walker go because he was expendable, We still have a fantastic side and we will strengthen in the coming weeks.

That'd sucks balls. How was walker? Surprised they out pressed us. By all reports we got absolutely ripped apart and we're lucky to lose by 3. Only pre season but surely we shouldn't be getting spanked like that. :/

Walker was fantastic and dominated the right flank

Really ? i don't think he caused us many problems Danilo was far better.

He won all his battles and made a lot of nice passes

Gents city beat Madrid 4-1, does that mean Madrid are facked in the coming season? Chill pre-season doesn't count, i'm sure we will get it right when the season starts. Losing one player does not mean we become sheet over night.

No but it confirms my view that when good teams press us we struggle big time. Average players like Trippier, Davies and Dier can't cope with it

If that's true then how the hell did we beat United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal last season ?

Did they not press us at times ? All those teams with great players and managers, If it's such a weakness of ours then how have we finished 3rd and 2nd the last two seasons? Easily being the form side over the last seasons / best defence / best attack ???

Trippier, Davies and Dier were all regulars in a side that won something many many games at the end of the season.

You talk about how we struggle against sides that press us but what the hell have we been doing to sides for the last two seasons ? Sitting back whilst they play around us ?

So many people on here are critising, we had it last pre season and look what happened

We will comfortably finish top four again this season. We have an excellent team.

P.s I'm happy to bookmark this.

In home games we could take the initiative against them so it wasn't an issue. That being said Liverpool still caused us massive problems

However in away games against teams who pressed us, which were Liverpool, City and Utd, we looked poor

This was also evident in CL games against the pressing sides Monaco and Leverkusen

Trippier, Davies and Dier don't have the skill set to play out under pressure. They are all poor dribblers and nothing special technically. Walker, Rose, Wanyama and Dembele with their strength/dribbling, and Toby and Jan with their passing are much better at this aspect of the game

Trippier is useful against poor PL sides because we dominate the ball and can utilise his crossing skills. Davies is a decent back up LB as he's pretty reliable all round. Dier for me should be back up in both DM and CB but Poch loves him and starts him when fit. They're not bad players but they're not CL quality imo

Well put. I have always maintained the same belief . We struggle against the press and our worst games last season were away from home against City and Liverpool. We don't have the collective ball manipulators in the side . The times we attempted to press City they just popped it swiftly to the next available man.
Trippier is a prime example , when we have the initiatives against the poorer sides he looks a world beater but when under pressure he lacks the balls skills and gets tied in knots. DIer even Alli are the same.
When we step up a level to the CL and play the better sides their ball using skills stand out. We need to bring in better technical players to give some of our players competition. Too many players have a shoe in each week .
This is not a Criticism more of an observation and identifying our sides achillea heel.

I see Don't cry still doesn't want people to have an opinion

Analog is spot on

The drop in quality from Walker to Trippier is the same from Kane to Janssen and only the blind or deluded will say otherwise.

Well that paints a worrying picture. Just watched the highlights now and I can't remember seeing an opposition team have so many good attempts against us.

We haven't been beaten by City for 2 seasons. I reckon this will change next season.
