The end justifies the means
-------------------------------------------------------------------
But the end could have been 4-0 which would have improved our goal difference.
I wonder if you will still admire these defensive tactics so much if we finish 2nd at the end of the season by goal difference losing the prem by one goal.
What would you think about these tactics then?

If we win a trophy with boring, negative football I'm fully on board.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I might agree if I thought it was necessary but we have the players to win something and play attractive football
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The West Ham game suggests otherwise. That probably haunted Jose, hence our current approach. Since then we’ve had 5 clean sheets in 6 PL games, getting 16 points out of 18. That’s pretty amazing really, why would Jose change a winning formula?

Playing like we did first half saw us score twice and look ok so why did we need to sit back totally in the second half we could have done the same as the first half thats my objection
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah fair enough. Though I think the game plan for the second half was the same as the first, until he brought Davies on, anyway.

Doesn't get decided on goal difference
Jose proving why he’s won trophies at every club he’s been at. Couldn’t careless about playing “The Spurs way”. It’s done sweet f all in terms of winning any sort of silverware and I’m sick of being nearly men. Jose finally building a solid base and building a team capable of winning trophies and not losing finals all the time. Long may it continue. Wins against Arsenal, City, United and a draw away to Chelsea who we usually get turned over every time and people still not happy. Baffling.

Anyone sensible would think ‘those tactics took us all the way to second place so I’d be an idiot to complain’.
The West Ham game suggests otherwise

Actually the first half also suggests otherwise

Ok I admit I wont moan at that result or performance but my problem is we do exactly the same against the likes of Burnley
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah. It's a shame that we seem intent on being so negative in these second halves. Takes the gloss off the wins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it's not exciting to watch but it's impressive that we have the discipline and quality in defence to do this now. If it means we have less 3-3s and losing vital knockout games I'm all for it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have supported an attacking, exciting but failing team for too many years. If we win a trophy with boring, negative football I'm fully on board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
100% and I have said this for ages now. I am sick of Spurs bottling it. Time for a change and Jose is slowly sorting it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now this is the sort of statement to me that proves pure stupidity. Who on earth said we are not happy? No we just suggested that we could be even happier.

Didn't know it was done on head to head now. When did that happen. But realistically even if it was done on goal difference, it is almost never decided that way. Goal difference is for bragging rights during the season.

Defensive low block counter attacking sucker punch Mourinho masterclass
I was one of Jose's biggest detractors but no complaints with the last few games. It's not pretty but we are often dangerous in the first half and score.
Don't like the way we played second half but it's very effective. I'm very happy with how things are going.
