Not really. Had Lloris stayed on his feet he could shouldered Watkins out of the way. Had the ball stayed in and he tackled him like that - Pen all day.

It was a pen as per definition of one, but the ref thought the ball ran away from the player and didn't give as such,

Had Lloris stayed on his feet he could shouldered Watkins out of the way

The laws say tripping or attempting to trip it does not mention the ball at all. If Hugo dropped kicked a ball the length of the field and then tripped Watkins as he was running out of the area then its a pen regardless of where the ball is

Think I just figured out why the fans are in the upper tiers. Them coverings in the lower tiers have got sponsorship on so the club is making money from them.
