Teams will enjoy coming to the Reebok and tip tapping around our defence.

I do miss the days Big Sam had our players biting at the opposition ankles and upsetting them..

The sign at the Reebok in the changing rooms back then said 'This is our home, protect it'

It's like a wacky warehouse now.

Eagles has to be benched, as time and again he left acres of space for Hull to attack the fragile Ricketts.
Same goes for Andrews who wasn't even pub-team standard.
In the words of my fishmonger(whose a Hull Season ticket holder) they could not believe how naive Bolton were.

So:

Bogdan :Mears : Mills :Ream :Alonso

CYL: Mavies: Spearing: Wylde

N'Gog
Sordell

Some of these team selections are bordering on the crazy. Not having a dig fellas, but this lot are that bad I cant even justify a selection at the moment. Will have a little think and get back later,ok now think Nuns and think bloomin hard.

I'd change my defence actually. Knight would have to replace Ream. Ream is far too weak to play on this league. Got shoved off the ball at Hull for their second goal.

Can't wait to see nuns team.

TRR i have to agree. ream is weak. keep him out the team. zat has alot more to offer.

i certainly wouldnt drop andrews. he plays the muamba role quite nice. seriously do you watch the games????? this is funny.

It doesn't matter who we pick or where.

They will still play to Owen Coyle's system and tactics which is seriously flawed.

I believe this was proven last season when we tried 14 different defenders and we still couldn't defend.

posted on 10/9/12

This bit about "trying 14 defenders" is misleading in the extreme.

Cahill - sold and replaced with Ream
Mears - got injured
Wheater - got injured
Ricketts - returned from injury
Steinsson - lost form badly - should he have persisted with him anyway?
Robinson - lost form - was desperate to drop
Knight - lost form
Riley - are you opposed to bringing kids through?
Blakeman - see Riley
Alonso - got injured

Not sure who the other 4 defenders are, wouldn't be surprised if you made up that number, but you make it sound like we chopped and changed defenders for fun.

Plenty of legitimate criticisms of Coyle at the moment Bricks, but you do have an unfortunate habit of making things up when it comes to Coyle.

I should point out that the worst defenders last season were Megson signings too.

Rikki G - 6 apps
Boyata - 14 apps

I was 1 out but you were 2 out, so we'll say 13 then.

Are you suggesting that Mears, Alonso, Wheater & Ream are any better than Cahill, Ricketts, Knight & Steinsson??

posted on 10/9/12

The main point of my post is that Coyle didn't keep chopping and changing his defence for fun last season, trying to settle on the right mix. As your post implied.

Secondary to that, just in relation to your infamous bias in favour of Megson and against Coyle, I thought I would point out that our worst defenders last season, Knighr and Robinson, were bought by your favourite ginger uncle.

Whilst Bricks has a certain style of implementing his point LH, i have to agree with him. The personnel isnt the issue, its the system, we could of had a back four of Maldini, Nesta, Vidic, Lahm, it probably wouldnt of made masses of difference

Largehat. I think you are being unfair to Megson to put him in the same bracket as Coyle.

Re: Horwich White and 'hahahahaha drop chris eagles. mate are u blind. drop our top scorer and the man of the moment.'
>> Correct Horwich, at the moment we are on one of the worst runs for some 14 years. Some Moment!

and...'i certainly wouldnt drop andrews. he plays the muamba role quite nice. seriously do you watch the games????? this is funny'

>>Yup, just got my tickets for Birmingham and Hillsborough next week. Where will you be sitting Horwich?

Wressleturbine - your still wrong tho - Andrews is rubbish

Cleggy - I agree. I wanted both Eagles and Andrews benched........'Same goes for Andrews who wasn't even pub-team standard'.....but alas he's apparently class, so who am I to argue

Andrews is SOOOOO good that he's told the rest of the team that they had better pull their fingers out and try as hard as him!!!

No he hasn't, he included himself in saying the team need to improve .....

Bricks, his cross field pass at Hull, when (in true defensive mode) he laced it, straight out of play without a Bolton shirt within 20 yards would have put Xavi or Inesta to shame!

Or, as Andy Reid surged through for Forest's equaliser, he concluded that tracking him would be fruitless, too hard especially given the lucrative 3 year deal he'd just penned

andrews does the graft like muamba. eagles provides the attacking threat that should be coming from our 35 year old dead leg skipper. clegg m8 ur pssst

Horwich - let's agree to differ on Eagles and Andrews, and hope that things turn around.

posted on 10/9/12

all in all there all not upto scratch are they? u must admitt without eagles were pss poor?

I don't think our players are as bad as results suggest or deserve the blame that Coyle heaps upon them.

Coyle blames the players publically & in the same breath claims he is ultimately responsible.

It's clear to me that something is getting lost in translation. An organised side consists of players who know exactly what each others responsibilities are whether they are in possession or not. Things like who gets up to support attack and who stays back. Who marks who when out of possession etc etc etc...

We look clueless sometimes and play without direction and this has to be the managers fault.

Players keep coming out with statements, I think Spearing today, about grafting harder Blah blah blah.

I'd love to hear what they think is really going wrong.
