Lloris

As I said yesterday, I do not know of any club who would spend £12m on a keeper who is first choice for his country & also Captain of his country & then not pick him. It makes no sense, I think Brad has been great & can continue to have a good input at Spurs, however Lloris is the future & the sooner he plays then the better I think.

friedel to start v reading.

lloris to play v carlisle and lazio. if he plays well he will keep his place for the prem.

I'd start Lloris, mainly because whilst I don't know masses about him, he must (I pray anyway) be better than Friedal at coming off his line for the corner, which will be important with Pogrebynak who's about 7 ft tall.

Not sure why, but im feeling oddly confident for Reading

super tott... i think we will beat reading too.. it will be a relief for the boys to get away from the aggy, impatient, idiotic WHL crowd

daddy chronic - cant disagree with that mate, he is a class keeper and I cant see him signing to warm the bench this season.
Makes me wonder what will happen with Gomes and Cudicini..loan maybe?

gomes needs to be shifted on, i am surprised noone has wanted to buy him.. he must be on quite big money

although Friedel is a good keeper surely at 41 he doesn't have too many years left in him at the top level? that being the case you would think you would put Lloris straight in with the peace of mind that you have a solid keeper (who would probably be no.1 at most prem teams) as back up if Lloris is struggling?

sometimes you need to bear with keepers. Degea at Utd looked awfull but has started to show a bit of form, although is still prone to the odd howler.

I think Lloris is much better than De Gea, and has the confidence of being Captain of his national team.
Brad will see his career out with us & would be a superb back up for this year.

Yeah I agree Chronic WHL's atmosphere was not good last week, definitely didn't help some of the fans getting on their back.

Booing at half time

The French worry me as we have bailed them out twice in the last Century when they did not show any fight !!

I feel so bad for dropping Friedel esp with his record but unfortunetley there is no time for sentiment in this game.

Lloris to start V Reading for me

Agreed, that sounds like the most logical solution.

====================

At last, someone else who notices. I've been saying this for some time but no-one agreed with me or could even see it.

I have pretty much been anti-Friedel since about 4/5 games in last season, but i'm not sure he should be dropped after being MotM against Norwich.

As such, and unlike me, i'm sitting on the fence on this one.

Maybe start him against QPR instead.

No 8.
Completely agree. Start him off from the get go. If Friedel starts and has a shocker then everyone will say thats because he's been unsettled by the new guy coming in. If Lloris isn't started then the TalkSport contingent will be spouting their usual crap re £12 mil on the bench etc etc.

We should never bow to Talksport / media peer pressure though.

I'm with DC on this, should keep them both happy

It will be impossible to keep them both happy.
Brad knows how things work and it would better not to have a sulky Frenchman on the bench. ( no racial slur intended )

Chicken I actually like Friedal, I think he's a good keeper, but that part of his game is not good and against a team like Reading we need someone with a good command of the box.

To be honest though whoever starts between Friedal and Lloris, I won't be too fussed as they are both top keepers, il be more interested in our starting formation

I have been a big fan of Friedal and still am BUT even i could see he let in quiet a few goals to the back end of the season when he wouldn't of done a few years ago. He is now 41 years of age and yes he had a great game v Norwich, but i just can't rely on a 41 year old in goal if we want to go places. We have to start Lloris in my opinion. What is the point of spending 12million a world class goal keeper and not starting him.

Lloris will get his chance at the expense of friedel in the same way chronic described. As for the others....

Gomes is injured but will hopefully be sold January. Don't expect to see him with a spurs shirt again.

Carlo was close to signing with Watford but his contract expires end of the season anyway.

Big brad will retire at the season...you can see his reactions sadly declining already despite his man of the match award.

Next season will be...

1. Lloris
2.archer
3. Miles

Very high hopes for the two youngsters.

We need to stick lloris in asap to get him used to epl, last thing we need is him being brought in for a "big game" and him doing badly because that "big team" are on top form scoring lots of goals. That will only knock his confidence and give people the opportunity to say "told you so"

agree on the two young keepers, particularly archer.

although if lloris gets injured they are too inexperienced to be first choice, thus i would keep around either cuds or friedel for next season as well.

plus friedel will be a great role model for them on how to stay at the top for years

they are both promising, however with Lloris in the way, and young, its hard to see when they will get their chance.
