Why play Kenneth?
The sad thing is, Daly is better.
Not sure who will start, but if rumours are correct and Kenneth and Swanny are fit, this is the eleven I would like to see start:
............................Pernis
Watson........Dillon.........Kenneth.........Dixon
Russel..........Flood........Rankin..........Swanson
.....................Daly...........Goodie
Tactics = Get right in about them from the 1st minute of the game, sharp, crisp, short passes, run at their defenders and hopefully draw fouls in their back third, strikers instructed to shoot on sight!
We have got to get them on the back foot right from the off and try to get that vital early goal.
I suspect their mentality is fragile whereas our boys never say die.
If we score first they will freak out and mistakes will creep into their game.
If we score twice I believe they will crumble and we may even bag another one or two.
Come on United
Thought Severin did pretty well in away leg. Would love to see Swanson getting on at some point, but there is no way he is fit for 90 mins.
Although we are all very tired of Hobo's blind criticism of Houston, i do agree with him that we should be playing 442 at home to most teams and i really hope PH has the courage to go for it.
Russel or Daly starting is a tricky one. JR much more likely to score, Daly offering extra cover from set pieces and a threat going forward.
We must go 4-4-2, although I am really worried that we will stick with the dire 4-5-1. Come on Houstie we need goals on Thursday and to do this we must create chances.
My team would be
Pernis
Watson
Dillon
Kenneth
Dixon
Swanson
Flood
Rankin
Russell
Daly
Goodie
Come on United!!!
Dixon
Unsure why I wrote "Dixon" at the bottom of my post. Must be dreaming about his great looks
would love to see Swanson play, but I don't see him starting. Hes that flair player that we need in a european game though. Just if he was fully fit, he gives us something different and i'm sure if he was playing the first leg, it may well have been a different result.
No chance Swanson will be fit. Only lasted for half-an-hour against Cowdenbeath... and was apparently knackered after 15 minutes of that half hour!
According to the tele, Swanson and Kenneth have a great chance of being in the starting line-up
Swanson wont start, he only played 30 mins so far, he be on bench
Team for Thursday.
Pernis
Watson Dillon Kenneth Dixon
Flood Severin Rankin Russell
Daly Goodwillie
Subs: Banks, Douglas, Swanson, Mackay-Stevens, Armstrong, Dow & Hilson.
That's probably what I'd go for too.
If Swanson is not fit then I agree with that team.
Houston says Swanson isn't fit enough to start but will be on the bench
Really glad to hear that Swanson is in the squad, if we are needing goal later in the game, may just be the man to unloack their defence.
Also glad that he will be fully fit in the next few weeks for the early pace setting in the title race
Really hope we don't have a repeat of last season when he comes back too quickly though as he'll end up being out for another few weeks. Think it was the Hibs game at home last year when he came on as a sub, set up a goal for goodie and then went off again 5 minutes later!! Difficult one to manage though I guess as we want our best players on the pitch if it means another European tie!
