Cleverley looked efficient
Welbeck needs a kick up the backside
Cleverley did well.
Why? Did Welbeck perform badly?
He's just so slow and lethargic. There was a point where he was played in down the inside right. 10 yards out. 4-0 up Any top striker would shoot and put his laces trough the ball. Welbeck dallied then cut back.
Welbz seriously lacks confidence in front of goal.
Although the advantage of this is that he always passes to a player in better position, but at the end of the day he is a striker f.f.s. He needs to develop that killer instinct otherwise he would not be playing for Utd much longer!!!!!
Give me Welbeck, without much confidence, over Defoe in a confident mood... any day, any week.
Defoe was pathetically greedy last night. At least Danny gave us more options around the box and played a hand in the 4th, and best, goal.
Remember, Welbeck is 21.... He is learning his trade at the very top... Not as easy as people might think.

It's not a lack of confidence. It's the Berbatov effect.
He hardly breaks into a sprint. People say he's rangy, but for a striker that's another word for slow as you only need to be quick for 20-30 yards as a striker to be seen as quick.

Don't get me wrong, I love Welbeck, he's got the potential to be the next Eto'o, but if this makes sense, I would rather he was the other way around, that he was a bit more selfish and greedy, took less touches etc. that way, natural maturity would help his game.
Welbeck seriously needs to improve his confidence in front of goal.
How was RVP? Thank goodness he wasn't injured. I remember arsenal fans always used to be worried about the international break as he would often get injured then.
Confidence in front of goal is something that will hopefully come with age and can certainly be worked on in training.
His footballing brain is quite unique for a striker though, something the likes of Defoe and Carroll could never be taught.
Like I said, he's 21 and progressing well.... He is learning alongside the likes of Rooney and RVP and has the trust of both his managers.... The future is bright for the lad.
Welbeck has excellent workrate which you dont see unless you go to games TBH. He for me would be better in the rooney role or as a number 10 as I dont think his goalscoring in a 1 2 1 is all that
In all honesty I hope he develops but was glad we bought RVP as i dont see Welbeck being a 20+ a season striker on a regular basis
I think clev was helped by having lamps and gerrard, he wont be as effective in a 2 man midfield with a carrick. Decent player but would be more suited at a mid table side IMO
As for the general performance it was good but I think it was moldova and TBH if this is what roy settles on he will have problems with better teams
The thing will Welbeck in a number 10 is there will always be better players in that position. To me Welbeck will be a good squad player.
Decent player but would be more suited at a mid table side IMO
-----------------------------------------
He's played, what, 10-12 games at UTD? Stupidly early to be writing him off.... People look at his age, but that doesn't tell the full story... He was hampered by growing problems and injuries... See if he can stay injury free and see how he progresses. Then decide whether he is UTD quality or not.
im gonna stick my neck out here.
I know it is too early to judge, but i have never really seen a lot in welbeck. I don't think he is United quality.

His backheel to Ando... Very, very few strikers would have the vision and technique to pull that off.... Especially at 20 years old.
What about the Everton game (4-4)... I think people have forgotten how he completely demolished them, due to the result.
Welbeck is good. But lets accept it, he will never be a 20-30 goal a season striker. Those kind of strikers ,are just born with that special awareness, vision and finishing ability that can't be taught. But Welbeck can improve on his movement, shooting, passing, confidence that will still make him a potent striker.
All in all if you ask me he definitely has a future at United but as a 3rd choice striker. The first choice 2 strikers will have to be purchased.
Those kind of strikers ,are just born with that special awareness
-------------------------
No they are not.
Drogba is a prime example. Henry was late to the game too.
Both those players were playing more regular football than Welbeck too, at their respective ages.... and before you say Henry was played out wide alot, so was Welbeck, until last season.
Note for idiots, i'm not comparing either player to Welbeck.... Just their circumstances.
Yes they are born with special abilities. You could see that in them at a young age. That's why Drogba was bought for such a large fee. Henry always had it in him and is widely regarded as the best PL striker. Can you honestly see Welbeck reach those heights? Don't get me wrong Welbeck will be a potent striker but I doubt he will ever be a regular 20-30 goals a season striker. But he has a bright future at United that is a guarantee.
Neither Drogba or Henry were widely regarded as anything at 20 years of age. They certainly did not score 12 goals for a high profile club in a strong league.
Of course Danny can go on to score 20 goals a season.... This season might be a tough act, with RVP taking his spot, but time is on his side.
I can't believe how slow Danny has become. Seems to be a lazy kind of player. I hope I'm wrong but don't see him as a Utd player. Just don't think he has that natural goal scoring ability. Also noticed he doesn't like To Get stuck in.
Welbeck, so young and still learning? (so no one must bash him in any form or way) Now that brat Rooney was scoring winning goals for United when he was only sixteen, and look at all the stick he gets...can't see peoples reasoning at all!
Red Indian are you the same red Indian from sw
Sweet sixteen, and twenty one and never been done.... that's about the difference!
bash him all you want, I just think it is a bit quick to do so until he has a few seasons under his belt.
Not every player can be a Rooney, Cesc, Messi type, who break onto the scene at a very young age. In fact, they are the exception, not the norm.
