zat knight...

hes done it before and will be the captain of the team when davies is not playing...i cant remember were i read that but it was in somthing 'official'

no probs with zat becoming captain but i feel bad for super kev...mr bolton! im finding it hard to admit that he aint the player he once was...like jussi as well.

he's got at least another season in him yet tho i think

I know Zat has captained in the past, however so has Cahill.

I can see why people would say Gaz, however as the OP says he may not be long for the club.

My shout would be Holden. Dictates things when he is playing, and being in the middle of the part would be in a good position to take in everything that is going on. Would also be similar to Davies (and at his peak Nolan) in that he would lead by example.

If not Davies, I've always thought Jussi would be worth a shout, however again the same problem arises of some supporters claiming he is past his best.
That then leaves Cahill and it looks as if he is leaving. That for me leaves Zat Knight as the only real candidate.

yer i agree zat knight deserves it. hes a good defender and im sure every player in the team will look up 2 him (literally) . zat has been solid this season lets face it and i think he got alot more left in him. we aint seen the best of him yet thats for sure. he just needs to work on his distribution and im sure he will be just as good as gary cahill.

SKD will leave BWFC in 12 months, but in the meantime remains Captain.

Then Stuart Holden will be ready.

personally i hope skd never leaves as he would make a great coach, and i would rather he did it here than anywhere else

i think davies will stay at bolton for the rest of his life, jussi too possibly...jussi will take over from barber as goalkeeping coach in the future and kev davies has apparently started his coaching badges...ive said for a few years that davies will be our manager at some point in the future. both jussi and davies are 'adopted' boltonians and love the club and the town, dont think they will go anywhere...

I would like Stuart Holden to be captain, but would the extra responsibility effect his game. Maybe too early? I don`t think it would be a good thing to make Cahill captain as he`s already been talking about leaving when still a Bolton player. Not impressed about that I have to say. We don`t seem to have any natural leaders do we.

Holden for me.But we will have to extend his current contract as i think it might expire in 2012.

With regard to Cahill at least he did sign a contract extension which means the club will receive a big fee for him, unlike the Swedish player who has just left.

He could have signed a new contact and stll left. People might have been happier with him as the club would have recived a fee although nowhere near the millions spent on him.

Thats why a lot of fans have been dissapointed with him.and the way he has conducted his leaving on a free.

If he was a few years younger id have said Robbo as he has the most presence on the pitch and he isnt afraid to make himself heard.

I would support Robbo over Knight as I think they both have similar time spans left IMO. Although, throwing out a wild card, Muamba. Before you bite my head off I ask you remember the Muamba who was amazing last season and brilliant at the start of this one along side Holden, not the current Fab who I think is just having a crisis of confidence.

The reason I put him forward is because he has captained the most successful England youth team we have had in recent years. That better qualifies him then most of the players mentioned.

The ideal for me however, would be to give it to Robbo this year and put Ali between the sticks and give him a year to settle then give it to him. If he can keep a Wigan defense organised he can get us in Europe piece of cake.
