I have to hold my hands, I've defended Levein so far, but after that shambles I just can't do it again. What I will say though is that the players deserve almost as much stick as they made basic errors all night, that's not just down to management.

Only pass marks for outside of the defence were Mackie and Forrest. Special mention to Hutton who I thought was outstanding for a change.

I don't necessarily have anything agains 4-5-1 even at home, if you use it right. But putting Caldwell and Maloney out of position within that formation is madness. Caldwell is useless in defence at the best of times, what makes people think he's a midfielder, one half decent performance against Man Utd 5 years ago????

The defence for me has actually been ok, Webster and Berra were fine although were put under far to much pressure by a midfield that was completely unwilling to come for the ball and so had to resort to long balls or passing along the back line and getting no penetration.

Then when we need to win the game, Levein takes off a striker for a midfielder, that he plays almost in defence and puts Caldwell further up the park

wiz a good thread to be honest and shows how we are all pretty much feeling about the national team at the minute with that as manager.
