He is only 1 stone off his fighting weight which is a good sign but he has spent quite a bit of time on the couch. He will need a few easy fights first.

if he is coming back(which is a mistake) malignaggi is the perfect opponent as he's not a heavy handed fighter, and wont be able to hurt ricky.

Totally agree that a fit Ricky can handle malignaggi, just hard to see where he goes from there. According to the press he earned about 24mill from boxing so he does not need the money, he must really believe he can make an impact. Hope I'm wrong and hes right.

Don't be so sure about not needing he money.

Ricky has earned peanuts in comparison to many Bankrupt former World Champion Boxers.

They don't hand those Belts out for financial prudence, and boxing is engulfed by leeches.

You may well be right, I did not take the idiot factor in to account. If he has invested badly then I guess his Manchester following will be dipping their hands in their pockets to bail him out. A bad investment for them.

Yeah 33 is not that old but boxers tend to age pretty quickly and towards the end he looked old, maybe the rest has some him some good.

Wish him well but think his time to be a real class in the division is passed.

whoops i meant done him some good, obviously

He was crap vs Pac but that wasn't the real Hatton, Hatton had his day imo as soon as he lost to Mayweather, the heavy drinking etc between fights and training finally caught up with him.

If he has knocked that all on the head and can focus and can get training again he can still get back to a good level and win a few fights, not saying his going to be among the world elite but his still got one thing a lot of fighters lack - Heart.

He could probably still knock out Khan

33 is not too old.

The problem is, in Hatton's case, your initial reaction to that number is; **** me! is that al he is?

Big paper round!

Agree I thought he was about middle 30s / late 30s

He should never had retired so good to see him back. However I can't see him get a world title shot straight away after being out for so long. I hope he targets a Khan or Brook and watch him fill out the Ethiad stadium.

hatton is one of the most overated british fighters ever!!

he had one decent fight against tzsu, after that he was battered by mayweather and manny.

everyone else he fought was mediocre, and when he went up against the best, he was made to look the average fighter he is, lets not kid ourselves.

To be honest i'm a big fan of Mayweather but Mayweather didn't batter him. He outclassed him but he didn't batter him in the slightest. If that ref actually let Hatton go at him instead of constantly getting in the way as soon as Hatton got close then who knows how far Hatton would have tested Mayweather.

Mayweather even said a few months ago Hatton was his hardest fight to date.

Hatton is a very under-rated boxer and only blind clowns think his over-rated. He was a very good boxer but just got outclassed by one of the best boxers to ever lace up a pair of gloves ( Mayweather ) and battered by Pac when he was out of sorts.

He fought some other very tough fights and dismantled the other fighters. He is not a world class / elite boxer but he is still a very good boxer and to just strike him down as some over rated average boxer is the most moronic comment i've ever read most likely by either a blind person or a 10 year old

Agree. Mayweather-De La Hoya / Mayweather-Hatton have been the only fights he has had where i've ever thought Mayweather may be beaten in

Love the hatton fights anyway have missed them deeply, he still to this day is one of the best supported boxers i've ever seen and probably the best english supported boxer ever. His fanbase was immense, anyone remember this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PweMADtEmWI

He lost to the best in the division and the P4P kings - there's no shame in that. Why he wants another go at boxing I'll never know, but other than soothe his pride a bit and scratch part of that itch I don't see why he'd want to come back. I'm hoping he's not seeing Holyfield and Hopkins and old-age idols because we never hear stories of them putting on 40lbs between fights.

Mayweather has since said cotto was his toughest fight by the way

It has to be Khan - Hatton and I would back Hatton in that contest, as Khan is one of the most over rated fighters I have seen!
