Stealing the best young talent before others even have a chance of success or profit. Disgusting.

I'm actually interested to see if any of these kids will get a chance to play for City, will we see a youth academy XI in the first team one day? Time will tell

What a shower we are. Why can't we give something really to the community? Like a giant bronze statue of a red nosed scotsman?

What a horrible person you are Kamikaze

I've always felt that everything City do is despicable. Why can't you go back to being crap and everyone's second team

I've had the good fortune to look round the National Football Centre at St Georges Park and that's impressive, the City development looks even better, perhaps we can let FC United use the 7000 seater stadium..

If you could convince your owners to spend all of their money on projects like this, I think you'd generate a completely different public perception. It's still unfair competition, but here your unfairly competing to educate young girls and boys, which is a little bit more worthy than unfairly competing to line the pockets of an already overpaid group of footballers. I personally think investment in youth sports facilities will do wonders for young people in Manchester (and in some places they desperately need it), and for me this is a brilliant scheme. Fair play.

Only time will tell as you say but it certainly gives the impression that's the road they are going down as far as creating a feeder stream through the system.
If the pitches are full of young British talent in 5 years time rather than a mish mash of European kids I'd say it will be a success

Paul, I think we will be looking round europe for the best young talent as Arsenal have been doing for years, like you I would love to see the majority coming through as English, Mancunians would be even better!!

I've got to say, that complex looks mighty. Very impressive indeed. It will take longer than 2 years for it to be built, however.

AFL, probably phased with the first stage opening in 2 years..

The work has already started, the land is pretty much already prepared for building to start. If you look at it, there's not actually all that much in the way of buildings to put up, and the speed which they're throwing houses up near me at the moment, I'd say two years isn't overly ambitious.

That said, the tram from Manchester to Droylsden is taking it's sweet time coming, so maybe not...

If you build it they will come! Sorry

It's exciting that this is being done and yet another sign that our owners are in this for the long run much to the annoyance of the bitters.

Manchester is yet again to bennefit and continue the regeneration that started with the common wealth games, the local businesses and home owners will no doubt reap some of the benefits of an owner putting into a club an community rather than taking it out for his own pockets.

As much as the bitters moan an snipe they can't argue that mcfc is a community club building improving paying its taxes and putting into the public coffers, them well they are selling out to shareholders again taking money out of the club an country and avoiding paying their way in these times of austerity and hardship, class behaviour from a soulless corporate entity formally a football club.

I look forward to the derelict land becoming something worthwile.

Oh an to the bitter rag who tried to stop the development "who was from Stockport" silly little bitter nice try you sad little rag

Thinly veiled Paul!

It's just they go on about ffp and make out its because they care about smaller clubs

Fair play they don't even pay their fair share like everyone else!

Fcucking hypocrites.

What happens to the land at platt lane and carrington?

posted on 14/9/12

I'm guessing that Platt lane would be quite attractive to a developer - part of greater Didsbury? It amuses me names like Didsbury Point - for any United supporters that's bit like calling Kilburn West Hampstead!

Not sure about Carrington.

posted on 14/9/12

From what I gather, Platt Lane is being given to the council and Carrington is being sold.

If Carlsberg did football club owners. Oh they do.

posted on 14/9/12

Do you remember a couple of years ago when United were sending drones over Carrington to photograph our training methods. I hope there's a contingency for anti-aircraft guns on the new site.

They aren't cleared to fly over Manchester their influence ends on the Trafford Manchester boarder.

When all of this is finished it will certainly be the best training facilities in the country if not the world. Then hopefully we will be able to bring the best young footballers in the world to live and train at the best compex ever built.
