Technically he said he hopes he can fill Scholes' boots, not that he will. I do like the look of the lad though and seems to have a good temperament. I'll be interested to see what his passing is like once he's settled in.

Honestly, on the very little of what I've seen of him, i think he's more a Frank Lampard type player. A very good footballer who uses the ball well and finishes clinically. For the record, I'm a lampard fan and would love to see Powell do what he's done in his career!

It might be a manager trying to boost a player's confidance more.

Who was it that compared him to Gerrard?

Was a cracking finish yesterday and if anyone can turn him into a world class player like Scholes it's Fergie . How old is he out of interest, 19 or 20?

I can't remember now. Someone said although he played in the no.10 role for Crewe that they thought he was better suited to CM and reminded them of Gerrard. He is a big strong lad, fairly quick, decent with booth feet and his a cracking shot from range, so can see some similarities. What we need to see now is if he can surrender possession with an attempt at a 50 yard crossfield pass when a simple square ball is on.

Fergie once said that you cant replace Scholes... so he won't.

What he has seen after part of one game to change his mind... I don't know.

18 Arab? Fkin ell, guy is a real talent, remember reading up about him when he was with with Crewe. Least now with Powell you don't have to feel slightly aggrieved with losing Pogba in the summer.

That Buttner looks a good player as well, looked like you've sorted out the LB position now

Only turned 18 in march too. There is something about him that makes me think he will make it at United. Seems to have a steeliness about him. You could he was happy to score, but also that it was only the start and he didn't get carried away.

I remember the same excitement and noise about Jones, early last season.

A few dodgy games and our fans will be on his back, just like they are with Jonesy.

Best to just sit back and see what happens with these teenagers.

Not sure what SAF is up to with this quote, but i'm sure he knows what motivation the lad needs.

I loved his goal in the playoffs last season. It was class. His shooting reminds me of scholes, they way he can absolutely leather it but not screw them miles wide like Gibson.

Hope he plays all the Carling Cup games. Can't see him getting alot of action this season.

Only time will tell. Wasn't the same thing said of many players before? Hell last season, Jones was the MOM for many and now he is one of our 'worst players'.

I will wait...

Good cameo in his debut, and apparently great potential for the future. You can't say much more than that yet can you?

As far as replacing Scholes I hope we're not going to develop another 'The New George Best' culture.

we don't need to...

Bebe is already the new George Best
