Considering we need to win every away game now or at least not lose any.

Levein will either play the old 9-0-1 or the more adventurous 8-2-0

"But Latrine still doesn't want him "

I didn't know Levein had responded to this yet.

I don't really know what Levein does now - He's made it difficult for himself by ruling out Fletcher's return even in the event of a u-turn by the player, which now appears to have happened. Personally, I hope Levein engineers a return for Fletcher, but that will require the player showing that he actually want sot play, rather than just saying "come and get me but you have to call me, cos I'm a superstar now".

Until this tweet yesterday Levein hadn't done a thing wrong on this issue, and he still hasn't - Fletcher said he didn't want to be considered for selection in 2010, and until yesterday hadn't said anything to suggest he'd changed his mind.

Also, if he actually WANTS to play, why hasn't he just phoned the boss?

He did, Leven felt a vibration in his pocket and thought it was one of his missus dilldos

I'm sorry but since when did tweeting become the way of selecting an international squad?

Fletcher withdrew by text and now wants to rejoing by twitter?? Seriously....is he 14?

Levein is completely in the right here. He may have got a few things wrong lately but this is not one of them.

It's not the mangers job to beg players to play. If Fletcher wanted to play so badly he wouldn't have waited 2 years to tweet about it he'd have picked up the bloody phone.

If Fletcher picks up the phone or releases an official press statement stating he would like to be considered and apologises for spitting the dummy then I'm sure he'll be considered, however, at the moment he's looking even more of a child if the only we he can communicate about this is through a social networking site.

I can see one of two things happening here. The media will undoubtedly pressure Levein to bring Fletcher back.

Levein will either be a total hypocrite, saying that Fletcher needs to contact him personally and not through the media despite Levein constantly using the media to contact Fletcher or he'll succumb to pressure and pick Fletcher for the squad but leave him on the bench while King Kenny does his headless chicken act again.

Leaving Fletcher on the bench would be fair enough if he was to play Rhodes and say Fletcher must work his way into the team but if he was to play Miller ahead of them both then he should be sacked for being as dumb as a bag of rocks!!!

Agreed, Levein has allowed it to escalate to this by not personally contacting Fletcher in the first place.

Neither has covered themselves in glory here but I just feel Levein has already lost so many of the fans that this could be the final nail in his coffin.

He surely must be desperate for a striker of Fletcher's quality after being stuck with Kenny Miller all these years but will he dig his heels in and finish our campaign with 2 more poor performances followed by his own sacking or will he call Fletcher back in and use him and Rhodes to try and give Wales a doing to get us back on track???

I know the response I'd get if I texted some random person (not the boss) at my work to say I wasn't coming in. He didn't even have the decency to text Levein himself either.

If he disagreed with Levein's tactics in the Czech Republic (as we all did) he should have arranged a quiet word behind closed doors. What he did basically amounted to public criticism of the manager from a player. It is completely unacceptable for a player to undermine his manager in public.

I don't see why Levein should have had to arrange a meeting with Fletcher, he doesn't have to justify his selections to his players. If he makes the wrong choices the fans and his bosses will make it clear to him but not the players. Not in public anyway.

True db but unfortunately part and parcel of management is to deal with players egos and not only keep them in line but keep them happy.

Under normal circumstances it would be hard to make a case for Fletcher if it was just a normal tactical disagreement but it wasn't normal, it was the horrifyingly humiliating 4-6-0 Fletcher criticized, one of the most inept pieces of tactics in football history. Fletcher just naively spoke out against it.

Even more reason for Levein to see him personally and tell him who the boss is, instead Levein has been saying in the media "tell him to let me know if he wants to play". Not really good enough from Levein if you ask me.

Maybe Levein could have handled it better but I still don't think it justifies such a response from Fletcher. He can't have been the only player that felt the way he did and no-one else felt it was bad enough to stop playing for the manager.

Again I would question his desire to play. You've got McGregor taking injections to play games.A guy who has had his disputes with past managers, fans and the beaks and yet has shown a desire to still represent his country and even risk his fitness and short term club future. Whereas Fletcher is happy to sit at home while the squads get together. If he really wanted to be a part of it don't you think he'd done more than tweet about it over two years?

I guess we'll soon see what his desire to play is like once Levein is fired after the next double header and a new manager selects him.

We won't know what his desire is like until he's on the park but because he fell out with Levein, that doesn't mean to me he doesn't want to play for Scotland. I know some people think it goes hand in hand but some people think it doesn't. Does Ibrahimovic not want to play for Sweden cos I saw him volley the goal of the tournament in for Sweden at the Euros?

I was full of support for Levein when he was appointed and so many things over the last couple of years have completely destroyed my faith in him.

The team needs inspired and I now don't believe Levein is capable of that. I hope he proves me wrong but to me we need every good player we can get despite petty squabbles which is exactly what this is and Levein has allowed it to become.

Fletcher is every bit as much to blame but bring him back and let him do his talking on the pitch, if he starts banging goals in it's astonishing how quickly people forget.

Gordon Strachan was asked for his opinion on ESPN on Saturday.
Strachan in my opinion is one of the most respected managers in the country and when he talks he's always worth listening to.
He said that Fletcher should contact the manager and tell him he had a bad day when he excluded himself from the Scotland set up and that he would now like to be considered,
He also said, which everybody might not agree with, that when you wear the Scotland jersey you represent your country not the manager.
There is no national anthem for Craig Levein but there is for Scotland.
Sensible words from maybe the next Scotland manager.
Unfortunately even if he did Levein's stubborness would probably prevent him picking Fletcher.

I'm not too sure about that. If Fletcher came out and apologised to the manager and the fans, I reckon Levein would accept that. Whether he'd fire him straight into the side is another matter. Personally I would call him up and bench him at first, there's no way he should walk back into the team. Not that he was ever a stick on before he walked out anyway.
