Derbyshire could be a ideal signing, some reports say he is a free agent, not sure about that as he signed a 4 year deal with Olympiacos in 2009
They dont want him, so i think £2M could do the trick or maybe a loan with a option.
If however he is a free agent (so released by mutral consent like we did with De Ridder) then why have not one snapped him up as of yet.
Another Striker i would have liked to had seen was SEB from Wolves maybe used in the Johnson deal.
But we have sold Johnson for £6.5M (£3.5M downpayment).
Yet SEB is valued at £5M by Wolves.

Wouldn't mind him back
Question is, would he want to come back after the way we treated him last season?... Maybe as we have a new manager who more than likely would give him the chance he deserves.
I heard somewhere that Michel will be given the chance aswell... very pleased by this
If we are going to have any chance of going back up we will need to score goals, at the moment we are not strong enough. At this level over a season Mat Derbyshire could be invaluable. And for free.
Its a no brainer under Hughton
No.
I just did not rate the bloke.

Aparently Forest are in after him and his club are prepared to let him leave as long as they recoup half what they paid.
£1.5M i would surely go for him for that much, not sure he would do better than 1 in 5 in the Prem but at this level he would score 1 in 3
The KiD
I cant see us doing any better than him, do you?
He could have flourished under Hughton Im sure, but lets face it, it willl never happen so why are we even talking about it.
It only serves to highlight the downfalls of our previously poor manager...

Just checking it does seem that Olympiakos could have released him...
Very strange, also it apears that Olympiakos have failed to pay Blackburn the full agreed fee.
Not sure whats going on here, a bit odd to say the least.
We had him on loan with a view to sign for £2M but her never impressed McLeish and it was said after that they dont want Derbyshire and want to recoup half his fee back.
Now seems Forest and Leicester are linked on free transfer but Leicester could have bigger fish to fry.
The KiD
I swear to god, as a die hard Rover, I've rarely seen a player who knows where the goal is like Derbs.
He didn't get a chance for us under Sam and maybe McLeish is the same mould, assessing miles covered and balls headed etc rather than the main stats for a striker: shots, shots on target, goals!
We would probably be better off trying to hang on to Jerome...
xpat, we could have easily had them both.
Derbyshire would be an advantage in our squad.
Bottom line, I think he would score goals for us in this league in this team, more so than any other player on offer on a free, and possibly what we have now
I dont think we will be spending any money on transfers so banding all these figures around is pointless.
If he wants any more than around 5 grand a week we wont be going for him IMO and he can get better than that anywhere.
So far as i see, these owners they are assett stripping and replacing with frees and players who will take very low wages ie; league one/two players.

Well time will tel KBM
King signed for £15K a week thats not much less than Jerome and Ridgewells wages while in the Prem.
Maybe things have changed with Yrung now being arrested etc.
I guess we have to wait and see.
And what do you mean Asset Stripping, to pay off debts and potential losses or to go into one fo Yeungs off shore accounts.
The KiD
Would like too judge Derbyshire on goals per minute and probably stack up very nicely.... How long di he play in total in Prem say 50 minutes 0 goals granted but scored in Cup a couple... At this league i would bet he would score 10 goals which could be worth 40 million . He would score more than jerome in that league.
If he is free or 1.5 million is a bargain and as european experience too.
