Thing is, If you were thinking about buying a club, and you look at the marketing value, you'd think twice if that value is dropping like the ice off a plane!!
Bates has actually paid for 2 holidays
I can actually see what is happening before many do,I think ahead
---
whats that got do with anything? - Bates has booked two holidays.... foook me
---
Stevie, the difference is mate, you talk football related things... and I've seen posts by you talking business, talking to other fans, banter if you like, none of us like Bates, and yes correct we have different views on what is best for Leeds United...
I take my 4 boys to the Leeds matches, they love it, as do I, for me, it's about watching Leeds United no matter what, for my kids, its the same.
RSI people could see Cardiff turned us and see it was going happen again so did not go. Tuesdays are all ways lower and as it stands crowded are up not down on last season?
2 games have 24k+ other one got all most 20k
As it stands it is still up on last seasons average. So it will be interesting to see the forest turn out.
Tuscany, good article by Matteo in todays YEP
He calls it a shambles and says fans are staying away.
Also mentioned the lack of atmosphere at ER
great RSL I'm sure you enjoyed reading that
is this the same evening post that 606ers say is rubbish, and promotes lazy jounelism?
think you will that is articles by journalists not by Matteo
not edited by anybody EP then?
Leeds United is a huge part of my life but I have to draw a line somewhere. I'd be a hypocrite to continue going along whilst bemoaning ticket prices, quality of football, the investment in the team and the current regime etc..
Do you really think Matteo wrote that?
agree Stevie, so then you do what you feel right......
don't you think though that the pleasure of Leeds United ridding of Bates, and being back up there where we belong would be better if you'd of stuck with it through the bad times?
then when the packed out ER sing "where were you, where were you, where were you when we were sh 1t" wouldnt apply to you at all would it?
young, stop, RSL says Bates has booked two holidays
pratt
Haha, good try. I'm 48 and I've seen many "sh 1t" times such as the wet midweek game against Barnsley where they stuffed us. Bremner was sacked a few days' later. Crowds were down to around 13,000 in those days so we've some way to go......
I think I can hold my head up high (ish)!
PS: I used to fly in from Saudi to watch games at ER when we were in the third tier too
stevie
RSL, Stevie, genuine question..... what were your thoughts when Cantona was sold to Man Utd? - for a replorted 1 million, but only 250k went LUFC, the greed chairman at that time and the agents got the rest..... then we sold Batty to blackburn (I think) where was all thi boycott rubbish then?
Same thoughts that I harbour now regarding the sale of both players. I'm aware of some of the scams that went on at ER including the laying of new carpets at great expense that came from a certain director's company...
I'd just moved out of Leeds when Batty first left Leeds but I recall the anger. Similarly when Speed left to go to Everton (although some said he was too inconsistent..... ). When Cantona went there were protests, nightmare for me as I was living on the wrong side of the Pennines at that time.
It's only rubbish if you disagree with it. I accept that it's not everyone's preference and if there's a better way to enforce change I'm eager to learn it.
The difference now is the scale of the problem and the length of time that this farce has been going on. You refer to player sales, but we've had to endure more than that in recent times.
stevie, firstly, how unlucky living the wrong side of the penines after the Cantona sale...
about two weeks after he'd signed, I actuallt spoke to Cantona at a petrol station in Leeds - my English was rubish back then so we spoke in french, I was star struck, just wish he'd of stayed at Leeds
as for those times, IMO those are much worse then these times.... same with crowds IMO, even Don Refvie (so I'm told) used to moan about 20k tunring out for a west ham game at home....
you menation above about 13k attendance.... when I zoom out and look at tall of that, including todays times, from a high up bigger picture point of veiw I still beleive we have had worse...
don;t you think tahts the beauty of Leeds United though, the good, the bad and the RSL? I for on wouldn;t change it for the world....... a good adviser to out family once said (not on a football issue though)
if it wasn't for rain, how would the sun feel so good? - to be it puts football and Bates into perspective...
oh, and true story about Cantona

Even worse Tuscany, I was also, at that time, married to a Red. Soon put paid to that though......!!!
Yes, you're absolutely right. I don't mind going through the mill I just object to someone making a fortune off the back of it, telling the very people lining his pockets that they are morons (although I do accept that there are a few in there!!) and being more than economical with the truth.
I was a season ticket holder in those distant days too so had no choice but to endure the depths of despair!
"Boycott gathering pace..."
I always thought he was a batsman?!
Haaaaaaahaaaaaaahaaaaaaahaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!
Well, it's great to see that we stand as one in the face of adversity. This is SO like the BBC606
For what it's worth Leeds United is a commercial business, just like Tesco.
Some people will shop in Tesco because it is value for money, some people will shop at Tesco no matter what prices they charge. BUT tesco know if they don't provide value for money numbers will drop, they endeavour to keep the numbers up so try their best to provide VFM.
LUFC is (reportedly)owned by Ken Bates. There is little we can do about that unless one of us gets the Euromillions jackpot tonight. Bates will have to provide a proper service, not to keep the gate up for himself, our money is virtually irrelevant to the club. Bates needs bums on seats to convince sponsors (the real money people) that having their brand linked with Leeds will improve their product demand.
And, by the way, if any of you won £40 M tonight on the Euro draw, how many and how much would you invest in your beloved Leeds United?
Bates is not perfect, but still better than any Yanks I've seen in the PL
Tusc...
Making assumptions without knowing the reality is hardly very bright
And to think you said he was intelligent..?
"He borrowed against future ticket sales to fund the so-called improvements in the East Stand."
So that means he borrowed against a Leeds United asset, will that be taken out of Leeds United if not met or will it come from Bates own pocket?..
"He needs third party investment to realise his own ambitions."
On the last lot of years showing, I'd think he doesn't know his ambitions!..
"A football club without it's fan base is nothing. Bates would have a white elephant on his hands and administration would follow pretty quickly."
And that is a sticking point by me, I don't think he's put anything out of his pocket into Leeds United, I do think he's done more then enough to keep his pockets happy, and if he doesn't get what he's looking for out of this never ending takeover, will he pull the pin?..
One or two think they're getting at him, I'd think if that was the case and he's intelligent enough to know if he was going to lose anything or not and how things stand as far as his fortunes go, if he was going to lose, then he'd be gone by now,
The Chelsea Bates said something that he once upon a time held to heart, the Leeds United Bates has made a fortune out of what he wanted to distroy, so I'm hoping administration is something he's not thinking about!..
Surely the main reason crowds are down is because of the abysmal hoofball that we have been playing under Warno for well over half a year now and the abysmal results that he has delivered.
I've been reading the stats on here and they are frankly incredible. 2nd worst ever manager after Cloughy and he still hasn't won 2 league games in a row.
That's surely why fans are dwindling? We were all wrong about Neil it seems
Well LFTF,
I'm presuming you're a fan that loved Grayson. Did you say similar things about Grayson when we squandered an 11 point lead, only to fight for second place promotion on last game of season.
Did you say similar things when we lost more than 2 games in a row under Grayson.
Did you say similar things when Grayson said we'd over achieved by finishing 11th.
Did you say similar things while Grayson was being Bates bum chum.
My point is, I think you're being a bit hypercritical of NW so early in season, especially as there's a lengthy take over bid going on, and, the fact that Bates wouldn't be giving NW much money at the moment.
You want to buy cheap, go to Tesco's, you wanna buy expensive, go to Harrods. That's the position NW is in at moment.
leedsluvr, if that is true about grayson saying we overachieved finishing 11th then the man is an idiot because under grayson we finished 4th, 2nd and 7th.
