PSG are ALOT stronger than Anzhi

True, you need strong competition to win the champions league and French league is not strong.

PSG are the only ones who spend serious money. Its not like PL were you got 5 teams spending £15 million each.

What's wrong with the Russian League?

Zenit, CSKA, Dynamo, Spartak, Locomotiv, Rubin Kazan, Anzhi are all pretty decent and that's virtually half the league.

Its not whats wrong with them. Its how far they got in Cl.

of course psg will be one of the strongest teams in europe, they already are IMO, they will be a danger in the CL this season, with players of the quality of ibra, menez, lavezzi, pastore going forward and the likes of alex, t.silva, sakho at the back they will be a tough test for anyone in the last 16 should they get through

Lyon have done well in the CL over the last few years, and before than Monaco.

I don't think its so much weaker that they couldn't be a force in the CL if they make the right signings over the next two years.

Porto won the champions league recently playing in a less competitive league

Plus they have Zlatan

France have been producing great youth players for years which I can't see changing. Maybe with a stronger league they'll stay.

We'll know how good Anzhi are at the end of this Europa group. With LFC and Udinese in it should be easier to guage where htey are at.

What you are going to see, with this sudden influx of free cash to various teams, is a much stronger champions league.

Especially in the group stages.

Ligue 1 will become much stronger soon, in my opinion.

It will capitalise on the decline of 'Serie A' and it will soon strike a lucrative television deal from the Middle East. Former French President, Nicolas Sarkozy was hugely involved with the original takeover and I wouldn't be surprised if Ligue 1 rights were sold to Qatar.

I think PSG also has the potential to unearth a massive fan-base. Primarily, they are the only real club in Paris and that is a massive city whose fans will probably end up being more enthusiastic about the football team. But also many people will love Paris as a city and the glamour that is associated with it, so they also have the potential to have a greater worldwide fan-base too.

I think once Anzhi's owner leaves the revenues they can generate won't be that great, but I believe that the revenues PSG can get in the future will be much greater as they will appeal to a greater fan-base and merchandising. All they need is for Ligue 1 to get a TV deal that can keep it competitive in Europe: whether the rumoured Qatari TV deal actually happens is anyone's guess?
