Thinking about tonights team

id be happy to see that team!!

I'd rather see the reserves combo of Wooton and Keane than putting an LB there.

I think a settled back 4 that knows each other may play better than a mishmash of young and older players. I also don't wanna see Rafael risked, he rolled his ankle on Sunday, if that is ligament damage, he will need to be very careful.

Vermijl, Wooton, Keane, Buttner

Strong rumours Rooney will start tonight, and I'd play him to get him match fit and hungry for goals

Also think Newcastle will play a near full-strength team so will be a really god test for our lads!

Why Powell when Clevs needs a game?

It's the milk cup though.... Rather lose the match than see Rafael get injured and learn nothing from putting LBs in CB.

Obviously, if we weren't on our ass with injuries, we could blood in one or two players alongside, say Smalling and Jones... But that is not to be.

Cos I want him to start against Spurs and think he might.

Ji, what use is the to the first XI?

Nani needs a confidence boost. Why not give him a game in his natural position. Ando and Clevs definatly need 90 minutes too.

I love seeing the youngters get games in the LC but surely our priority has to be giving minutes on the pitch for first team players that need them

Playing tonight would get him sharper for Spurs though. He's hardly played for us recently. That's why I'd play him

Rafa limped off against Liverpool. Is it really wise to risk him?

I said that's what i'd like to see... not what will happen or what is best for the team.

But, I think playing Tunni really could benefit the 1st team... We need a player like that, and i'm afarid to say I don't think Fletcher will even bounce back... So we should be looking at get Tunni some game time.... If Carrick gets crocked, we need a deputy.

I imagine anyone lined up for Spurs will get a 30 minute run out.

Was he mentioned in the press conference? It looked like ligament damage to me, but if it were only bruising, then he'll be fine.

I think Brady will start, he played a few pre-season and just made his international debut and was apparently MOTM. Also had a good loan spell at Hull who wanted to sign him.

Welbs should play and imo, we should play 3 in the middle. Fletch, Ando or Powell. Cleverly to start on the weekend and Ando needs games.

De Gea

Verm Keane ? Buttner
Fletch Ando
Nani Powell Brady
Welbs

Good mix of experience and youth plus players who need games.

Surely they've been playing football for many years already?

I don't want to see Evra at CB, too small.

We've done quite well in the League Cup over the last few years, with basically reserve sides.

If Vermijl and Veseli are both fit I can't see Raf being risked, expect Josh King and Lingard will play some part too

First man picked should be Welbeck.... defence will be our reserves mainly... But should keep a regular striker on tap (on the bench) in case United fall too far behind.
Is Rooney fit and ready????
Now is the hour for Welbeck to show what he is made of!!!! Can only wish him good luck!

Hmm... Many assumptions here. Last season the did not choose a team that was balanced or particularly young.

Its simple really, who need games... They are all playing today. Which means the possibility of a midfield 3 of fletcher, cleverley and anderson. With powell apparently able to replace scholes, he should push either of the 3 to the flanks. How fit is rooney?

Do not think fergie will risk a young defence, more likely carrick playing in defence. Buttner is certain. Valencia might be at right back.

Hope bebe plays.
