It will be Black

You won't be disappointed? We've the best squad in the championship and are 1 point off the top, this SHOULD be the sort of job ex-Premier League managers are queuing up for.

But instead the favourite is a guy with only 56 games management experience in 11 years, and a guy Kean no doubt had a hand in bringing to the club. It'd be a terrible appointment in my opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, bring on the pragmatic, unexciting, experienced candidates. Redknapp, McCarthy, Curbishley, just anyone who has done this before and can take hold of the mess Kean has left and sort it out.

I'm a huge, huge Shearer fan and would accept that appointment on the feel-good factor and banishing of the memories of Kean it would bring. But taking 2 risks in a row isn't a good idea when appointing managers. Williams never would have done it, he took one risk in Ince and then immediately went for the safest option possible in Allardyce.

What I'm trying to say is that with venky's in charge i can't see us either:

a) paying the required cash up front to prise away an exciting prospect

or

b) convincing an experienced manager that they can work under the Venky / Singh regime

It has long been my opinion that Kean was in well over his head as a manager, but also prepared to lie an connive himself into the top position. Black has played football, has been around management for some time and has 56 games more experience than Kean had.

I would rather other names came, but can you really envisage Redknapp coming? Curbishley has been out of the game for a long time now. McCarthy would be a sensible choice, I agree. Shearer stands a very good chance of tarnishing his reputation if the circus here continues.

If Black gets the job, I'll be happy to give him a clean slate on the basis that he isn't Steve Kean. We have to accept that it is the owners who will be responsible for making the decision and prospective managers will have to be 'sold' on them. I know what my answer would be if interviewed by Desai.

I think that **** Kean has left us right in the ****, and he knew it, why did he not walk away in the summer, he had a motive to leave us up the creek and he has. I am glad he has gone but what changed his mind all of a sudden, he had been taking it for ages, he had his own support behind him, in Agnew and co. Then the night before a game, right guys Im off. What a ******.
Whilst I am on the subject of agnew and Co why is the communications manager not communicating, or does he just get paid alot to answer the phone, Why has Singh not been spouting his words of wisdom? not a sniff from anyone, why? Its the perfect chance to get the fans interested and thinking something good is coming, instead, silence. Get it together you fools sat in the board room.

I'm no fan of Kean, but he had his reasons to stay: £1.3m of them.

Personally, i'm amazed after all of his stubborn resistance that he walked rather than being fired with a payoff. His parting gift may actually have been to save us some money for once!!

Something went on, I've said all along that he was far more than just the manager.

Well technically Kean now has 18 more games managerial experience than Black, so we'd be replacing baldy with someone less experienced.

You're probably right on Redknapp. Curbishley's been out a long time but he's still a way off retirement age and has never failed in management, I think he'd be a good choice.

You make a good point in the last paragraph. We can only hope that Venkys have learnt something in the last 2 years and are prepared to let the next manager do his job with less interference. If so then we might still be able to get a good one who feels he can just ignore the crazies and get on with managing a good squad. If not, then whoever we get will likely be just as ****, if more likeable, than Kean.

I'd like Benitez. He'd be expensive though and I think he'd want a lot of stipulations in his contract.

I’m just hoping it doesn’t turn into another circus with months of speculation and being linked with every manager available, only for Black to be given the job full time.

Did anyone see the whole game against Charlton? Did we look at all different under Black than Kean?

I did! No we was dam,n lucky and outplayed at times, same old story this season. If a new (respected,know-how)manager is appointed he should clear the decks at Ewood with all the flotsam and hangers-on.Lets start anew and build from here.COYB

No he will get a payoff as he threatens to take the constructive dismissal action which was implied in his resignation statement. He would only have to demonstrate that the club failed to protect him from fan threats as part of their duty of care, or that any changes to his terms and conditions made his position 'untenable'.

The owners will also look to protect their interests by getting him to sign a confidentiality clause as part of the payoff.

Its not over financially at all

I personally believe we are stuck with the owners. Any further attempt to remove them could see the club torn apart and with no further gain - to force owners out you would need another buyer and we aren't exactly up there with United. Owners who make sensible appointments and provide a sensible level of funding (Anyone say Walkers Trust) will do me - if we then settle into the Championship long term so be it.

It may be Black but I hope this time the owners will have realised the problems of an inexperienced manager. Benitez/Redknapp are beyond us - I would like to see a Poyet/Billy Davies/Mick McCarthy/Grayson etc - someone semi-experienced but with the potential to take us up and potentially establish us.

I just hope that we have a clearance and we can rebuild because we have not got a decent defence or midfield-this needs sorting and quickly if we are to bounce right back.

Numbers, you raise a valid point for a change, however he will get less for constructive dismissal than if he'd been fired.

We should try Redknapp with a mahoosive promotion bonus...

He will still get a fair chunk and possibly what he would have got in the remainder of his contract. They will probably come to a settlement: after all what owner wants to consider the prospect of their 'backroom dealings' laid out in the press.

You don't want and won't get 'Arry. His comfort zone is the S-East and his success comes with massive transfer outlays that almost bankrupt clubs (Portsmouth). Your owners are not spenders.

You need tried, tested and hungry

We need an experienced and proven manager to take the club forward in three stages.

1) Manage the immediate transition of one man out and another coming in.
2) Push for the PL.
3) If successful in that push, keeping us in the PL.

We need someone with proven ability in getting teams up from the Championship and keeping them up on low budgets.

Black does not fit that billing on any level.

No offence to Black as I gatehr he is well regarded and respected within football, but he is simply not the right man for the job at this time.

He can paint any red doors there are around Ewood, thats it as far as I'm concerned.
