I would worry about pigeon holing yourself by adding a product to your company name.
From an online marketing perspective. Your town/city name followed by IT can help put you "on the map". Particularly Google searches.... Google "Bolton IT" and you will see what I mean.
Sorry to hear you have been fired CEF.
Setting up your own company is scary as hell and not much fun at first and where I was concerned, I had a head start with the Makro contract, which was basically my old job but they couldn't afford me any more.
You'll soon be asking for receipts for stamps, biros, coffee, ice-cream and bags of crisps.
I hope when you are preparing business plans, turnover, expenditure & profit forecasts, you are a lot better at it than your Bolton predictions

'PG sacks his copier man and keeps his manager' shocker!!!
Ah but CEF the important question is did he keep Doris the tea lady? Now if he let HER go that would be a REAL shocker.
Doris is still on board.
Though she's on a fine line after last week's cake incident.
More on that one when I'm not as busy.

Hi CEF, I hope it all goes v well for you. IMHO, your choice of name depends largely who you will be selling to. If you are looking at large corporates, corporatey type names works, if the tech dept of medium sized firms, a techy name, if small business and individuals, a memorable catchy name. At the risk of everyone laughing at me, also the old sell the sizzle not the steak thing could apply. You could describe what you do, or how you help. Great advice as above is to check out web urls available, see how the name looks on print and online, and also spend longer doing business plan and cash flow projections than playing with logos! Lastly, why do people buy products? Fear is a great motivator...sounds to me like you are aiming to be in the "I'd be lost without it' market for IT. Trade on that, at the risk of sounding punning and cheesy, Safetynet IT?
