Shawcross may not be as good as JT but he isn't a bad defender. I just don't think he is the sort of defender England needs. England needs defenders that can play the ball out of the back as well as defend. sadly there aren't too many of these.
Though calling the guy a surfer because of the tackle on Ramsey is a bit much when it was not intentional. It's not like he ran Ramsey over with his car and left him for dead.

Mediocre defender, as much as I hate JT, Shawcross isn't anywhere near him ability wise.
