"Earlier in the week I dismissed the speculation as nothing more than a minor irritant."
Should that not read "I dismmissed Marmite boy Stringer as nothing more than a minor ittitant"
Good news
How ironic would it be if we lost Saturday and the moan in was full of the Pearson out brigade?
Believe the moan in will still have the pearson out brigade they won't want to be proved wrong.
The moan in will allways be the moan in #believe, i don't think much will change on that front. we could be top of the prem and people would call in saying "I just don't think we've got a natural goalscorer", "The defence looks a bit shakey to me", "Vardy looks a bit slow" ect. where they find these people sometimes i'll never know
Just on that note and off topic over many years we have one stiker who scores and one who runs around a bit .
The last two seasons we have had a strike partnership who score goal that take the pressure off midfield to score.
Good that they've come out and straightened this out – and explained why they didn't say anything earlier:
“We fully accept that the Football Club is constantly in the public eye and, as such, will be a constant subject of media scrutiny and debate. For that reason, we adopt a policy in which we do not feel compelled to respond to a media agenda."
I guess we have to take it at face value – there don't appear to be any visible signs of squirming at any rate.
Big congratulations on a massive PR stunt to increase attendances well executed.
Leak rumours to the press that we've spoken to Redknapp during a period of winning on the pitch so that the fans come rushing back to get behind te manager.
Very clever owners, very clever indeed.
I never believed it for a second
Well, it's about time.
I doubt it'll stop the suspicions and I see nothing in the statement that convinces me out of mine, but it does at least provide a platform to draw a line under it and move forward. The immediate crisis appears to be over.
However, I worry about the legacy of this whole episode. After all, are we going go through this again next time we hit a period of poor form...?
“However, given the recent unwarranted and inaccurate speculation in relation to our manager, we wish to set the record straight in the most unequivocal manner.
“Nigel has and continues to retain our total support in helping us to deliver our stated long-term aim of achieving footballing success."
--------------------
Unwarrented - they don't want the speculation and are irritated that it's been reported.
Inaccurate - all the details are not correct. e.g. they are not actively looking for a new manager, but they reserve the right to tap one up if they feel it necessary.
Nigel has got our support - until such time as we think we may need to make a change.
Nowhere does it state categorically and definitively that they have not spoken to HR or someone representating HR.
.... I'm just saying .....
You are right Joby but at least they have said something.
If something does happen anything they say can be used in evidence against them.
