The fact is, the celtic rookie squad (with rookie manager, younger than the rangers captain) was one game away from the title last season against one of the greatest s.p.l managers of all time.
I'm sure that both sets of fans will agree that Ally is not as good a manager as walter smith, and as long as rangers have not improved their squad, then it looks like we will start the season as favourites.
although i do see them as deadwood and shouldnt be in the first eleven they can improve other teams in the championship and with juarez maloney and samaras im sure can get decent clubs
mcginn is gone to brentford and scored last night im sure he is on loan but still of books graham carey is also gone
id imagine you will see more players leave on august and a few more brought in
no point in selling them though if we can afford their wages.
what if commons and forrest got injured? maloney will be first pick.
what if kayal and lefley get injured, juarez will be needed.
what if hooper and stokes get injured? samaras
i'd rather keep them as back up for emergencies. Hope we get an injury free season like rangers last year!
Why would you expect us to be busy in the transfer market this summer? Lennon build this squad last year and it only needs tweaking this year. We simply cannot afford to go out and splash £10m on a couple of signings and if you think this is evidence that the board arent backing Lennon then thats a bit stupid. We cant get close to competing with the money down south, especially since we've missed out on around £40m of CL cash these last 3 years.
I agree we need a new GK and big target man, I reckon we wont be signing any CBs as we've just got one Wilson in and apparently Wanyama can play there. Hopefully we can get this GK for free and leave the rest of any money avaliable for a decent front man.
I would also like to shift out the dead wood but if no one wants to buy them then its gonna be hard. I also do not agree about Juarez. He started our best player last season and never got a chance in the side, I'd rather he got another crack at it.
When does the transfer window close? I can't remember the exact date but I'm sure Neil has got plenty of time to tweak the squad!
Calm down dear!
Bar a serious disaster tonight we've all but signed a proven GK.
We have signed a proven CB.
We have signed a young versatile international CM/CB.
We have 4 strikers, all with different attributes + Kris goal machine Commons.
Murphy replaced with a better target man would be useful but is it anything to cry about?
Don't forget we have players like Rogne, Ki, Mattews, Forrest to bleed into the squad, they all have great potential.
I can't understand the pessimism towards this squad, were any of you season ticket holders during Strachans reign?
pearson - celtic have been pre season favourites the last 3 seasons. Means hee-haw.
