I'm not really bothered, I would prefer it if mario left and someone comes in more dedicated and less of a loose cannon.

scrummy it is not upto RM to walk over to mario after all he just as well could have gone over to Roberto and shook his hand. It seems to me that mario expects everyone to bend over backwards and jump through hoops all at the same time for him. The lad is not a youngster anymore and it is time that he grew up and learned that not everything on a football pitch has to revolve around him.

Take the free kick that he was arguing over with Alex, Alex as the senior pro has every right to say that he is taking charge and having this one. Yes I am not disputing that Mario is a skillful player but when is he going to start act like a proffesional footballer and stop sulking when ever things don't go his way.

If Mario continues to act in this way he could well find that he might not have any football future at all. Mario must now be in his 4th yr of playing football if not more, so to say that he is still finding his feet in the football world is kind of a stupid argument is it not. Yes maybe RM could have handled it better but so to could have Mario. This is not the 1st time he has stormed down the tunnel after being substitited, so he should know what to do.

Don't think other managers have faired all that better. Balotelli's been virtually unmanageable up to now. In a way, he reminds me of the young Anelka. Perhaps his career will have to take a turn for the worse for him to mature a bit and realise that he needs to sort his act out if he wants to have a successful career in football.

So Mancini should listen to the advice of Andy Townsend and Craig Burley !!!! i've heard it all now ..... Sorry Mario, you may have talent but Mancini has been the most patient of managers with you, please go and let players like Edin Dzeko get more of a chance...

I doubt he stormed off, did he?

Im not saying Mario should be indulged all the time, all Im saying is since he is still on City books isnt it worthwhile to get the best of him.

Some say he is losing value but I doubt he is.If PSG came in with that kind of offer I can think of many clubs who would sign him and top of the list would be the 2 milan clubs.Only isssue would be his salary.

I actually doubt Mario will prosper at City anymore and half expect him to move to a milan team in the summer but my point is rather than have another Tevez situation why not encourage him.

@ BoltonBlue (But born in Manchester)

sorry but thats small club mentality. If great mangers like Fergie and mourinho can handle odious creatures like Cantona and Pepe and you are already cying about mario then you still have a long way to go.

Not all players have to be saints to be an asset to a team

Numpty mourinyho couldn't handle balloteli could he!

Should have thought that one out a bit first.

scrummy, who do you actually support, you seem to be very obsessed with City, by the way it was that great manager Mourinho who said he couldn't manage Mario at Inter, think Mancini's done a bl00dy good job with Mario considering. By telling us who you support then we can analyse how your manager deals with difficult players.

scrummy remind me what have Andy Townsend & Craig Burley done since they have quit playing football. It is easy to say what they are saying when it dosen't concern you and you are not the manager. After all there job isn't that hard to do sitting in a studio and making some comments. Why even I have said some of the things that the commentators have said, which goses to show that that job is not that hard.

Better managers than RM have tried and failed to curb his excesses so why should the lion's share of the blame be on RM?

It is not just his inherent unpredictability on the pitch, his erratic behaviour - mainly his pernicious lifestyle - on the pitch is the issue. And yes, he showed glimpses of class in the Euros (not as good as many would have you believe) but Balotelli is at a crossroads.

I have followed his career for three years now and there is no marked difference. He is talented but he has neither improved nor regressed.

Did Mourinho sell Mario when he was still at Inter or did he just leave for Real.as far as Im concernened Mario still played for Mourinho up to the time he left Inter.

Don’t use media generalizations about what Mourinho said about Mario and bring it on here. Before the game against City in the champions league Mourinho said Mario is a good kid who will mature overtime.

Hardly the sound of someone who had given up.

And yes Mourinho is a numpty himself, anyone who can eye gorge another human being is a numpty!

I actually never said RM has handled mario badly, i just asked the question.Prandelli just seems to be getting more out of mario than mancini does, thats all.

surely there must be a reason for that.Im not putting all the blame on RM.

i dont agree that Mario is unmanageabale, thats a lazy and crass statement.its all about understanding an individual, maybe he needs to go back to Italy, well another italian coach ancelotti bid 40 million in the summer, maybe thats where he must go.

==========================================
Mourinho said this about Balo a few days ago:

ose Mourinho.....
"Mario was good fun. I could
write a book of 200 pages of my
two years in Inter with Mario, but
the book would be not a drama.
The book would be a comedy! I
remember one in Kazan. We
went to Kazan in the Champions
League. In that match, I had all
my strikers injured. No Milito, no
Eto'o. I was really in trouble and
Mario was the only one. Mario
gets a yellow card in minute 42 or
43. So, when I go to the dressing
room at half time, I spent, I
would say, 14 minutes of the 15
speaking only for Mario. "Mario, I
cannot change you. I cannot
make a change. I don't have a
striker on the bench. Don't touch
anybody. Play only with the ball.
When we lose the ball, no
reaction. If somebody provocates
you, no reaction. If the referee
makes a mistake, no reaction.
Mario, please"
Minute 46, red card!"

If that is not a damning indictment of Balo's lack of professionalism, i don't know what is. I like Balo but it is obvious, he has a lot of 'baggage'.

PS the news about PSG bidding in excess of 40M for Balo is just a canard. But hey, if believing it, adds ammo to your argument, kudos to you.

Mario could be brilliant but he's his own worst enemy, he's a child trapped in a mans body!

An mourinyho did say he was unmanageable did he not.

thats a funny passage quality, however i think its still lazy to say a young player is unmanageable unless if he is mentally ill.

Scrummy

The guy just isn't as good as he thinks he is.

He's one of those players that you detest one day then laugh the next

He has the workrate of Berbatov and Berbs is more technically gifted

He plays for City and gets paid well for it. His attitude needs to be an awful lot better than it is.

City don't need him. There are tons of better strikers out there

TRC I never read that before

Actually pretty funny although I really doubt Jose, or the inter fans, found it particularly funny at the time

I don't think anyone is particularly qualified to talk about Mancini and Balotelli apart from themselves. Balotelli has said numerous times that he sees Mancini as a father figure and judging from the way he has reacted in the past to other managers, I don't see any reason to doubt that.

I would also say that Manciki has been incredibly complementary in the past about Balotellis ability, but knows that he reacts better to criticism from
him than he does praise. Balotelli has always said he views scoring goals as his job, so he is not the sort of player that needs that recognition all the time. Due to that, he reacts better when he believes he hasn't done that and let Mancini down.

Put it another way, do you think Balotelli would be happy playing the way he is and as often as he is under any other manager? I highly doubt it, he would have been long gone, and that is due to the high regard he has for Mancini.

I would love Mario to remain at City. Last season, some folks thought that he would cost us the title. But I argued that he would win us the league. Look at some piotal moment last season when Mario rose up to the occasion - Everton at home when I had given up hope of victory and just praying the Toffees don't nick a last minute goal, Mario came on and scored. Against United away - scored against the run of play and was instrumental to getting Evans sent off. Spurs at home - high pressure moment but Mario stood up and scored. Sunderland at home - 3-1 down, Mario scored to put more pressure and also lift the team. Against QPR, immediately he came on, the game changed. He almost scored with a header before providing the pass to Aguero to slot in the winner. Mario is Mario. The media is biased against him. All the treatment he has been receiving from defenders recently has been ignored. They are all waiting for him to react then they will call for his head. I hope Mario continues to stay strong and win more titles with us.

I feel the trouble with Mario is he over exaggerates the contact made by the opposition. Sure they do needle him but crying to the ref all the time only puts the ref on the back foot. When as on Saturday he did get blatantly fouled twice in off the ball incidents the ref saw the boy who cried wolf. He always appears so hard done by and if things do not go his way he sulks. That is hardly condusive to team spirit, or helps the team when trying to obtain a result. Mancini was spot on in taking Balotelli off as he had contributed very little in adding to the scoreline. Within 3 minutes of Aguero entering the fray it was 2-0. Latching on to a pass from Kolarov. Balotelli has to realise that there are 10 others out there relying on his contribution to acheiving a result that all 11 & Mancini can be happy with. Getting sent off or going out onto the park with the knowledge of how is Mario going to perform today is hardly going to have a stabilising effect on the rest of the team.

As for Mancini's handling of Balotelli, the amount of time spent in pre match interviews answering questions about Balotelli from Journalists must be monotonous. It is the same week in week out. Mancini is always defending Balotelli to the hilt in full view of the public. Privately though i wonder how many times Mancini has thought do i really need these type of side issues when we are trying to focus on the next game. Mancini seems to have the patience of a saint when it comes to Balotelli.
That patience will wear out eventually unless Balotelli realises what he has to lose.

Scrummy how often doses Prandelli see Mario over the season maybe for 8 weeks tops. So it is easier for him to put up with Mario's antics for 10 days or so, at a time over the course of a season rather than put up with those antics nearly every week for the season.
