Kiss of death - Mandy backs Jones

Is this like a launch countdown beginning?

COuld be Shib. I mean, how many times have we seen the chairman (not just at wednesday) come out and publically 'back' the current manager only to sack him within the next 2 weeks.

If I was the chairman and I truly did back the manager I had despite the run of terrible results I would simply laugh off any questions about him been sacked and disregard any questions relating to the issue. I wouldnt see the need to make a statement about something that hasnt even entered my mind.

RIP Dave Jones

Yeah, did the same to Irvine only for meggy to step in wot weeks later...

I hope that he genuinely does back him and not saying it to put off any jorno's whilst he pursues his "next" manager

Mandiric's Guide to Chairing a Football Club (SWFC Edition 2012)

P.1 - Publicly back manager
P.2 - Fire manager following humiliating trouncing at the hands of L***s
P.3 - Appoint manager that has already been offered a contract prior to L***s game

Contary to what Sparty says/laughs about and the common belief that 'Arry would never move up north, i still get the feeling that he is Mandys next target in his/our quest for the prem

We have more chance of getting Harry Houdini than Harry Redknapp! Dont want him either as we'll be skint within 2 years.

I'd like to see us take a chance on a younger manager if not Alan Curbishly although unlikely as he could probably still get premiership if he wanted

CAnt wait for 5000 Leeds fans to be chanting "your getting sack in the morning"

'Arry is not leaving the Sandbanks for love or money.

Sheridan
Pearson
Dalglish
Worthington
Kean
Keane
Ince
Barmby
Cotterill
Hoddle
Davies
Brown (P)
Sanchez
Coyle

It's a pretty poor pool of realistic choices out there - given the odd exception. Just wondering how our fellow Championship languishers Bolton would feel about Coyle coming to us given the acrimonious link to us via Megson? Anyone else have a view on this perverse twist?

persopnally i'm all for fresh meat in the shape of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

I'm with Floyd on this - a younger manager would be a much needed breath of fresh air; a change from the staid and tired snake oil sellers doing the rounds.

^^ You can add Di Canio to above list too (despite his politics) - he's a nutcase but an effective nutcase at that.

I too would love Di Canio too a legend here despite only being with us for a year.

To be fair McCarthy has a decent record at this level but the baby faced assasin and Di Canio would be prefered, I too like the idea of a younger and fresher face but, although an unpopular choice to many as it seems, I do think Arry would do well here, but like Ive stressed many times I very much doubt he will come

The poor run of form definitely co-incided with Terry Burton's exit to Arsenal.

A stay of execution for DJ?

And Madine and Rodri started...and both scored. Id like to see those two do well in the 1st team and I think its important for Rodri to play more games than he has, ok he has struggled since his debut but why have him here, even with an arrangement to buy after his loan, if he's not going to get a look in, he's highly rated so DJ needs to get the best out of him and Madine needs to knuckle down more and not think he is a superstar. I hope they do get their seasons back on track. I know its hard as Coggy and Bothroyd have played well over the last couple of games but I think those two do need to get more of a look in too due to their potential, i'd hate it if we lost those two to another Championship team and then florished, it would be a sickener!!

Also, whilst we have all discussed who would replace DJ should he, god frobid, get sacked, what about Lee Bullen? I think he would take charge on a caretaker basis 1st but I think he would do well. Just a thought like...
