Smokescreen it again..that was NOT the purpose of that banner.

===
now Im going to repeat this.

the purpose doesnt matter

what matters is the message

If every club in the country had one say like show racism the red card you would surely agree that would be very positive

I dont want a smokescreen get it out in the open.

what no paedos in div 3?

Ever been up ti Peterheid?

There was no need for the banner.

Just like there is no need for a banner saying "Murderer Free Zone".

And by the way that wasn't a message, it was a statement.

Duke - your sentiments are laudable.

But the purpose of the banner in question is well known, and was certainly NOT for the lofty reasons you mention.

How about, we just keep that stuff away from the game. Same as anything to do with shooting, politics, religion etc.

And maybe concentrate, on, maybe, football.

Possibly?

Im not sure
we have show racism the red card so why not use sport to get other messages out through statements on banners

The show racism the red card was designed to stop racism within football primarily - clearly given recent cases it is not yet fully successful.

And no, let's not go to where this discussion could end up about other ills of society being present within football & clubs.....

As much as we might want it to happen, it never will, unless of course the SNP, ban any sort of atmosphere at football grounds. (Wouldn't put it past them.)

Yes "Show Racism the Red Card" is a message and was done because football used to have a problem with racism.

Other banners could be used if they were necessary, such as sexism and homophobia as those are problems currently related with the game.

Nevertheless, the "Paedo Free Zone" banner was not a message, it was a statement.

I think people are going overboard about the SNP's response to the bigotry issue. I disagreed with it, but since the bill was introduced I actually think bigotry has been less prevalent than in previous seasons.

It's all very simple.

The Rangers fans that took that banner to the game were just raging at the fact the are no longer top-table diners, they clearly felt the need to lash out, as usual their target was their better run former rivals, not very subtle, but considering the absolute pounding we have given them it's understandable.

I forgive them.
