French spies ?

I was out and about today and kept listening to bits of radio Sheff commentary.
It sounded like we were on top in the first half and perhaps should have been ahead early on.
Missed chances apparently.
After we went behind i was hoping for an equaliser and the skipper provided it for us.
According to the commentary the "trouble" was just a few fans running onto the pitch to celebrate the goal.
Shouldnt be done of course, but not really trouble is it.
They said that one fan had been thrown out.
At the same time a Shef Utd fan ran ontthe pitch at the end of their game and confronted an away player.
Now that is out of order.
I think an away point is more than acceptable, especially after being behind and we have moved up a place in the league table.
Once again we have dug in and rescued something after being in a losing situation, something we havent been able to do for the last two seasons.
It shows how our expectations have gone up when we can only draw a game and some of us are not happy.
Well done Rovers and roll on next Saturday.
Crewe away in the JTP is an interesting draw.
The last time we won the JTP we got a bye in the first round (the same as this year) and we also played Crewe en-route to the final.

Sorry Hound but according to Pinky and Perky, there was trouble behind the goal with fans fighting with police. Goodwin said he was worried as his mum and dad were in the away end.

They also mentioned those coming on after the goal, but the big issue was trouble on the terrace.

This is our second consecutive away-day where there's been problems with some so-called fans. Let us, the genuine fans, stand up at Notts County and assist the authorities snuff out this skum (sic)!

Hound, read this and I think you will get an idea of what went off.

What with the incident at Orient and now this the club should name and shame then show them the door if found guilty.

NY: I've been able to get on VSC - maybe you should buy a Mac!
Seriously, we had a great name for away supporters' behaviour (I have to teach my Mac real spelling) and I'm alarmed if that is going away. If the problem was just about standing, we have the same at the Portland Timbers that play in an all-seating stadium. You have to stand when everyone in front of you does. That is a problem for people who have difficulty standing. So far at the Timbers we have had no trouble over it over that "Sit down you ********".

Sorry - "no trouble over it than 'Sit down you ********'"

After reading some of the comments on vsc (something I hardly ever do) I would like to see "some" standing areas re-introduced back into the game. Maybe just 1 stand within a stadium. The atmosphere at games is getting killed there's constant bickering between people who sit and stand up etc and a seperate area to accomodate could be installed and suit all. The main thing I miss at belle vue and one of the main reasons I look forward to places such as yeovil, peterborough, brentford etc and visiting pastures new in crawley who still have terracing, thoughts??

As for trouble at recent away grounds? not just this club and the changing face in society and sport, at Hartlepool, some could say that they were trying to keep warm and there was either 642 or 1500 away fans depends on where you read what. AND THAT MY FRIENDS sums it up, it is what you read and where it comes from.

The players themselves must start to carry out most of the blame, We have continuous players falling out and calling each other names (babies and too much money) , there are those who are making the colour of their skins to get players sent off or into civil courts. What next. Oh yes Senegal there are riots because a country is loosing, just like England in Dublin a few years ago. People on football forums are as guilty of causing disturbances and I am no different. FOOTBALL. is getting naughty again. But I think the main problem is society in general. But now we have Muslims told not to play in shirts of a certain company it is against their religion?? FOOTBALL and the problems at DRFC are worlds apart and if there are a few that are causing trouble, then what is the answer?? Bans from grounds does not help because there is TV. Prison possibly, I certainly believe that whilst there is a shortage of Military in this country because we are involved in pointless wars around the middle east (money, religion and OIL) . So Syria has no oil so let the people there die. Even in the first world war Football gave them a day off.

Right Thorneyrover this is what some people call CR*P and I get regularly slated for my comments. Sort the problems on the pitch first, deal with society and make penalties hurt. In recent weeks we have seen disturbing scenes of violence and even social disturbing matters of a recent dead man. For heavens sake. Go to a game, pay money have some banter then come home and have your tea, that goes for everyone. Sheffiel Utd v Oldham a pretty local derby and a good game by the sounds and just to spoil it. We have a complaint of racial abuse which is denied. When will football and it's culture ever grow up. I have been all around the world watching live sport, and officiating in it. In Malta three of us "English" watched the usual Sunday match at the international statium and we never spoke to anyone at all just enjoyed our football and had a pint. There were 6 Policemen sat directly behind us. "Why" I asked - answer "You are English and have beer" TELLS YOU SOMETHING THAT. The English (Yes I am) cause trouble here and anywhere they can. Hartlepool's penalty may have sparked a point of anger as dubious as it was, but the referee gave it and one person who is not going to change his / her mind is the one in the middle. Now leave it

NY,
No problem with logging on VSC.

There is a lot of sense in what you say Bally.

We have a growing problem at Donny.

1.I noticed it at West Ham last season 4/5 totally under the influence of something vomiting all over the toilets and where they were sitting in the stand.
2.It was reported that at Orient the toilets were severely damaged and defaced with excrement.
3.Infighting at Hartlepool.
Are they the same idiots? I have no doubt that some of our supporters will know them.

When the team were at Millwall 2 seasons ago I was talking to a uniformed officer from Donny who had travelled with our supporters I don't know if the police still do it but it would help to get to know the idiots even if they make their own way to away games.
At the Millwall game the following season their was an incident on the railway station where a girl was allegedly punched by a member of DDR(Donny Defence Regiment) When I made my views known on VSC I was threatened by (probably) a spotty faced kid that I might "regret making my comments", big deal.
I hasten to add I have no reason to suspect this silly group or if it still exists of being involved but the club, police and true supporters have to make a stand against this unacceptable behaviour.
We can't ignore it we must acknowledge there is a problem and deal with it.

Can we please not refer to so called firms of football hooligans. They are brainless pillocks who don't deserve to belong to anything. There is no excuse for it. If you can't go to a football match, support your team and then go up to an away fan smile and shake his hand then you shouldn't go to football matches.

In mentioning this group of idiots, if in fact they were involved, I think would quickly identify the problem area. Nobody had seemed to have heard of them until I found out about the group making racist chants at Brentford, just kids really.
Bally said at the time that he had come across them in a professional sense.
They may in fact not exist today but if they are people should be aware. To identify, isolate and permanently remove the idiots is the responsibility of the Club, police and supporters.

It was not my intention to give this element any credibility but to highlight the growing problem we all have.

Exactly Fuzzy BUT it ain't happening en bloc these days I am afraid.

Alex. I take your point about the threat from the clown on VSC, let them read this, because see the following incident.

Several seasons ago whilst in the Conference, a mate and I went for a pint after the game in The Park Hotel, there were about 4 Northwich United Fans having a quiet drink, I believe Donny had won 2 or 3 nil. A gang of this so called DDR went and sat all around them there were about 6 or 7 of them idiots that still go. One lives in Thorne, one in Armthorpe and two I recognised from Edenthorpe. It started the pushing and kicking of chairs of the visiting fans. So me and my mate who are both pretty handy went and sat with the Northwich lads and got abuse from the DDR lot and threatened that we should get back to Northwich, so then we took our coats off and revealed Donny shirts,
Guess what?? suddenly it was 6 onto 7, the DDR were told to go get FKD off or else, they did what was safe. Now a few seasons later on the Belle Vue Town End, the same crew were always drinking whiskey after entering the ground pi55ed and then there was the very sweet smell of Can***s, The Stewards were repeatedly told. Did Nowt.
They did nowt then and they still do not address real problems at Keepmoat but let anyone sit in wrong seat there are suddenly 3 or 4 Stewards goading and attempting to cause a scene. Oh how Ionlywish.

Fuzzy I agree entirely with you and Alex.

Only idiots would go along with the numskulls of the VSC or DDR, or for that matter the other idiots who wipe human waste on walls (When nobody else other than their mob were around) to identify them. Too many people just walk by these days

I'm convinced the decent fans by far outnumber the idiots and without trying to sound sanctimonious or attempting to steal the moral high ground, we need to be more vigilant and make every possible effort assist the authorities. I'm not really what you would call 'handy' but I won't be intimidated by these idiots and feel strongly that we need a concerted effort rather than turning a blind eye to things we may not like to see. I'm at Notts County and hope there won't be any trouble but am prepared to stick my head above the parapet to help prevent it.

Marc,
I think you would be making a big mistake to get involved directly. Perhaps to watch, photo and note down as a witness is an affective way to help out from a safe distance. Because it is the minority that are at fault, between the majority of supporters, the club stewards and the police it should now be nipped in the bud.
Don't forget all clubs have CCTV and if they do their job they should be able to identify a small group of kids that have had too much to drink which should lead to a life time ban.
It won't be long now before I take my grandchildren to Donny away games and I don't want to face incidents like the ones mentioned.

On a lighter note, did anyone else but me notice that Hartlepool had one player called Hartley and another called Poole.

Funny isnt it that the UK government put a roof over the heads of the Polish that come over here in droves and yet their lot couldnt do the same for our lads last night.

Hey Hound, at least the only got rained on (which is not good in a covered stadium), but what happened last night in Serbia was an absolute disgrace.

For the Serbian FA to come out and state that Danny Rose was the guilty party and that there was no racism shows a complete lack of understanding and there should be calls for them to be banned for a long time from International football at both club and Country levels.
